Stirring the pot on the LH/corriente topic

Sim-angus cows are still popular up here in N.D.

    Head sausage

Love it! My Irish grandmother (1890-1979) used to make it here in North Dakota.

    How do you heat?

Propane (house), electric Ritchie cattle waterer. We take heating seriously in North Dakota.

    Spraying by plane

You’d be amazed at what those pilots live and love to fly around. Drones are improving—my neighbor hired a drone guy to desiccate 1/2 section of sunflowers after his regular spray flying guy wound up in the Obits. I watched for a little while. Two drones operating off a gravel road. Guy kept...

    Breeding bull to daughters

I keep heifers because they are raised to know and work with me and my farm. They know the paths I want them to walk, from pen to pen and pasture to pasture. And they last longer on my farm than most animals I have bought. A closed herd is best for managing disease. That said, it is hard to...

Greg Judy and Profit per Acre

I keep 100 percent of my cattle in drylot 4-5 months just like every other North Dakota farmer most years. Winters are long and very, very hard.

What should we ask for deposits for beef?

anyone having power problems today. Auroras tonight?

If you’ve never seen them in person, just remember they only look this way to a digital camera. To the naked eye, just imagine this in a sort of b&w.

anyone having power problems today. Auroras tonight?

Yeah, we saw them here in North Dakota. Mrs. Gallagher snapped this in our front yard about 11:00. Good showing!

    Pellet Grills

I hear rabbit pellets are OK, but they need to be very dry.

Your Opportunity to Chime in on Greg Judy's Methods

I’m not real sure about the university anymore. But they are listening to the gurus — no one should close their minds. NDSU at Dickinson R/E Center found some good numbers with Aberdeen Angus a couple of years ago. Is that 1600 lb. cow weaning an 800 lb. calf?

Your Opportunity to Chime in on Greg Judy's Methods

The difference between a 4-frame critter and a 5-frame is two inches between the belly and the ground, which doesn’t weigh very much and you can’t eat it.
