    Equine Nutrition Courses?

Hey guys&gals, I am wondering if there are any online courses to get a degree in Equine Nutrition and Equine Behavior. I know that you can take these classes and get certified in these areas. I am in my Junior year of highschool, but I have heard you can take courses such as these online...

    Off-Season Workouts? Ideas?

I haven't raised one fully on my own, but my sister and her husband have. I've also got a good friend who raises & trains all the time, and they are all giving me some pointers and advice. I have trained all of my horses to lunge and have never had a problem. Of course, they were a little older...

    Off-Season Workouts? Ideas?

well, I say lunge. For the filly it's more like walking circles around me. I guess you could call it training to lunge. Don't worry, I think it would be too hard on her too. But, I'd like to at least get her started on the idea of it. The in hand trail courses, I'd never thought of. I like that...

    2yo that bites

I work with mini's quite a bit. But as with any horse, treat him like the dominant horse in the herd would. If he bit the dominant horse, it would bite back. You do the same. Bite back. As was said earlier, a good backhand ususally does the trick. But you HAVE to do it instantly! From my...

    6 Month Old Filly- Hernia

I got the Hernia taken care of and she's healed up from that wonderfully! We only had to give her Bute for a couple days. We gave her Penicillin for 10 days and the first day we brought her home the vet gave us some antibiotics to give her that night, just as a precaution. She's really growing...

    Off-Season Workouts? Ideas?

Hey guys&gals, I'm in a sort-of a bind during this off-season. My barrel horse and I just finished up our first hard season and the season for us doesn't start up again til March. I recently aquired a new herd member too. An 8 month old filly. Anyways, I definantly want/need to keep my barrel...

    6 Month Old Filly- Hernia

Hey guys&gals, I was given a 6 month old filly. She is still about as small as she was the day she was born. She's in pretty bad shape and she has a Hernia on her stomache in front of her right hind leg. She hasn't got hardly any strength at this point. I am going to get the vet out asap to...

    Bad Attitude :(

Another UPDATE: He's back from the trainers and he's running great! Attitude problem is gone and he's a happy horse! He really seems to like barrels. I have been hauling him for a few months now and he's done great and we've placed at least 3rd at every rodeo! He's running 17's consistantly...

    Sick Mare

Hi, When the vet came, did he give a diagnosis? If not, could she have been in season? Sometimes mares tend to have "squirts" when they come in heat, but it wouldn't last more than a few days. How long did it last, and has she been able to ingest anything outside of her normal diet? Sometimes...

    Rodeo Cruelty

I'm glad to know that not everyone is against rodeo :) if some people would give it a chance, they would see it's not all bad. Sure, every now and again, there's a mishap and an animal does get hurt, but so what? Thats just life. Crap happens. But when you step in it, just wipe it off in some...

Can I use Ultra Saber on my horse?

We have cattle and I never use any of the same medicines, sprays, etc. on them. I've never asked a vet for a professional opinion, I just always bought the right medicine for the corresponding animal and never had to think twice. Definantly ask your vet. Let us know what he says :)

    Rodeo Cruelty

I have rodeoed my ENTIRE life. My dad was the president of the company and my mom was the seceretary. Anyways, in my opinion, bulls are only buck once maybe twice a week and they eat and sleep the rest of the time. Nothing about it hurts bulls. Barrel horses are trained to run and love it. If...

    Rodeo Cruelty

Hi gang, Okay, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm gettin' pretty dog-gone tired of hearing about rodeo being cruel. About how barrel racing and bull riding are cruel to the animals, and how horrible the lives of those animals must be. There are many sides and perspectives to a story...

    Bad Attitude :(

I have tried chiro and it works sometimes... sometimes it doesnt. it just depends. Also, I have sent him to a professional trainer and he's doing amazing. He's being trained for barrel racing and pole bending. He's just loving it! The trainer says he's one of the best horses he's ever had to...
