Cattlemen and women from 16 different states, as well as Brazil, S.A., filled the Neo-Sho Farms sale barn for their 2001 Red Angus Production Sale. A great day, everyone enjoyed the spring weather with sunshine, food, fellowship and an outstanding set of cattle.
Volume buyers for the sale included Jerry Cook with Niangua River Ranch, Tunas, MO (45 head), Kyle Parker with Parker Ranch, L.P., Fort Smith, AR (16 head), Ben Brown with the Animas Foundation, Animas, NM (22 head) and Martin Brothers Cattle, Quapaw, OK (4 head) respectively.
The high selling bull, Neo-Sho 100 Proof J878, (Proof Positive 1305E X MS NSF High Yield) sold to Parker Ranch, L.P. of Fort Smith, AR for $11,000. This 18 month-old bull boasts EPD's of 1.3 BW, 48.3WW, 88.7YW, 18.4 MK and 42.5TM with a 79lb birth, 680 wean wt, 1316 year wt, 41 scrotal, 13.1 REA all packed nicely in a 5.9 frame yearling bull.
Lot 11, the 2nd high seller, NSF Bonafide Proof K346, (Proof Positive 1305E X A NSF Playboy's Gold daughter) sold to a many time repeat customer Mike Wood, Park hill, Ok for $8,400.00. Bonafide's 732lb WW and 1268lb YW gained him ratios of 120 & 113 respectively with EPD's of 2.5 BW, 53 WW and 78 YW, 14.8 Mk and 41.3 TM.
Neo-Sho Parliament K126 a light birth weight Neo-Sho Millenium 065G son out of a NSF On Top Cow, sold to Martin Brothers Cattle of Quapaw, OK for $7,400. Parliament showed an outstanding Rib Eye Area (as do all the Millenium cattle) of 13.4 with a 64lb BW, 645lb WW and a 1238lb YW.
Bred heifer, Lot 196 MS Neo-Sho BLJ J953 (B. Little John 5954 X CV Excitement Cow 439) claimed a 34.6 TM EPD, 90lb BW and 520lb WW and a 980lb YW. Parker Ranch bought J953 for $2,700. They also purchased Lot 197(BLJ 5954 daughter) and Lot 200 (NSF Be a King daughter) for $2,500 per heifer.
Two Project Red 5827 daughters topped the yearling heifers sold, both going to repeat buyers. Frank Brown, Kissimmee, FL purchased the 999lb YW female, MS NSF Project Red K247 (EPD's: 0.8 BW, 35.8 WW, 61.8 YW, 13.5 Mk, & 31.4 TM) for $2,500. Francis Graver, Bowling green, MO purchased the 1044lb YW heifer MS NSF Project K257 (EPD's: 1.6 BW, 30.6 WW, 61.6 YW, 14.3 Mk, & 29.6 TM) for $2,500.
