This sale was established to provide a source of genetic superior replacement females for beef producers in the West Central area of Alabama. All the bred cows and over one-half of the bred and open heifers had official BCIA performance records. The top selling pen of bred cows was consigned by Autauga Farming Company from Autaugaville, Ala. and sold for $1,200 each to Twin Valley Farms, Prattville, Ala. The second high selling pen of bred cows sold to Austin Holley, Alexander City, Ala., for $1,150 per head. This pen was consigned by Lee and Sharon Major, from West Blockton, Ala.
The top selling pen of bred heifers were 10 head consigned by Pine Grove Ranch, Newbern, Ala. and sold for $1,410 per head to Brooks McCants of Demopolis, Ala. The second high selling pen of bred heifers sold to O.J. and Roger Mooney of Weogulka, Ala., for $1,375 per head and was consigned by XL Cattle Company, Tuscaloosa, Ala. The high selling pen of open heifers sold to Twin Valley Farms, Prattville, Ala., for $1,000 per head. These heifers were consigned by the Lower Coastal Plains Substation from Camden, Ala. Cattle sold to beef producers in 18 counties in Alabama and Mississippi.
