SOUTHERN GEM GELBVIEH SALE AVERAGES $2,242

Gibson, Ga.

Larry Hadden of Hadden Farms, Gibson, Ga. once again hosted a quality Gelbvieh event at their sale facility. Seventy-six lots from seven Gelbvieh seedstock operations passed through the sale ring. The sale, as well as the Friday evening social, was very well attended. Cattle sold from the east coast to California and points between � such was the acceptance of the sale offering.

Topping the sale with a combined value of $6,700 was the Lot 31/31A offered by TJB Gelbvieh, Chicamauga, Ga. This exceptional pair was split in the ring and phone activity was brisk. The cow, TJB Mitzi 931J ET (a Sleepy x Michelle female) was black and polled and correct in every way. She was safe in calf to WAC Fullback for a black polled calf. This deep sided, well uddered, sound made, attractive female sold to Severtson Land & Cattle from Innisfail, Canada for $4,000 US dollars! Her black heifer calf, sired by the ever present, JNS Mr. Image 6E ET �6E� bull, sold for $2,700 to David Bates of Duck River, Tenn. This potential show heifer exhibited the style that her sire �6E� continues to produce with excellent depth of rib and overall fault-free pattern.

Another TJB Gelbvieh offering topped the bred heifer portion of the sale at $4,125. Lot 34, TJB Micayla, a Double Chief sired fall heifer was safe to the extremely popular SLC Freedom bull. Micayla is a maternal sister to Michelle (dam of the high selling lot � see above) and once again bidding activity was brisk. Heritage Farms, Cornelia, Ga. had the final bid on this female and they contended for several of the top selling lots.

Crawfish Creek Farms of Chickamauga, Ga., offered a choice lot as Lot 1 or Lot 2. It featured mother and daughter with the buyer selecting either one. Lot 2, CCCF Ms CHEY Lady Granite ET 213G was the choice of the winning bidder, Andy Ledoux of Holton, Kansas. on the final bid of $3,900. Safe to Freedom for a � sibling to the $51,000 BTI Red Alert bull this Poll Cheyenne daughter was a magnificent specimen and her EGL Bullseye daughter, retained by Crawfish Creek, will be heard from in the future.

Lot 16/16A left the ring on a bid of $3,800. Crawfish Creek Farms sold this excellent pair � the cow was sired by Extra and the calf was an excellent Balancer daughter sired by EGL Bullseye. JBOB Farms of Biscoe, N.C. took the cow home to undoubtedly place in their quality ET program for $2,300. Kevin Lorance of Orlando, Okla., selected the black polled balancer January heifer calf for his show string � she is quite special!

Silvey Family Gelbvieh from Clarksville, Tenn., once again showed their respect and appreciation for quality proven genetics with the purchase of Lot 25 for $3,750. This sale lot was a flush out of TJB Sabrina, a full sib to the $11,000 Moonlit Splendor cow, offered by TJB Gelbvieh of Chickamauga, Ga.
