Approximately 350 people attended the 2002 Florida Bull Test Sale on March 2 at the North Florida Research and Education Center, Marianna. The sale offering included Angus, Brangus, Charolais, Gelbvieh and Hereford bulls. Senior and junior bulls had been gain-tested for 112 days. Sale eligible bulls were those indexing 95 and higher for ADG and WDA, had passed a breeding soundness evaluation and were screened for structural soundness. The 21 bulls averaged $1,560 and averaged by breed: Angus (14) $1,629; Charolais (3) $1,250; Gelbvieh (2) $1,650; Brangus (1) $1,650; and Hereford (1) $1,250. The top indexing and selling bull for $2,500 was H A F Ideal 3452 209K, consigned by Howell Angus Farms, Cantonment, Fla. The 2003 Florida Bull Test Sale will be held on January 25.
