Another great sale day at the Thorne Ranch. We received the rain we have been so desperately needing and a great crowd of TLC Buyers from 10 States. Eighty-two lots went through the TLC sale ring and grossed $153,850, with an average of $1,876 per lot. Seventy-one females averaged $1,981 and 12 bulls averaged $1,275.
The Winner of the Purebred Heifer:
"Ms. TLC Autumn M174 ET " sired by Black Icon was won by Larry and Beverly Struthoff of Seguin, Texas. Congratulations to the Struthoffs and thank you to all the folks that participated in this give away!! Every buyer number was eligible. Each time a buyer purchased a lot their buyer numbers were entered twice more.
Volume Buyers L & B's Broken Oak Ranch of Seguin, Texas purchased 18 Lots averaging $2,677. Owners Larry and Beverly Struthoff were also the volume buyers at our Fall sale in 2001. They increased their already top herd with several TLC bred and open females.
Volume Buyers Bickford Acres of Claremore Okla., purchased 13 lots averaging $1,619 per lot. Joe and Trecia Bickford were our volume buyers May 2002 and in May of 2001. They are putting together a real fine program of Braunvieh cattle.
Top selling female:
Lot 59 Purebred homozygous black, Black Icon daughter, Ms TLC Black Vanna K2354 ET bred to Polled Thunder and due in March 2003 sold for $9,000 to L & B's Broken Oak Ranch of Seguin, Texas.
Highest selling pair:
Lot 51, Fullblood cow Ms FFB 606 with a Polled Thunder bull calf at side for $5,200 and sold to L & B's Broken Oak Ranch. Thorne Ranch retained half interest and semen interest in the bull calf Mr. TLC Thunder M279 at side.
Second highest selling pair:
Lot 49, Ms TLC Aggie (Vernon by W8R A97/1) and her September 9, 2002 Black Icon bull calf at side for $4,500 to J and L Braunvieh of Okemah, Okla. The Warn's also purchased the top bred cow Lot 23, Ms TLC Wilms F6110 a Dado daughter bred to Black Icon and due January 2003 for $4,400.
Top Open heifer:
Lot 61, Ms. TLC Black Veta L1110 a Homozygous black and sired by Black Icon sold to L & B's Broken Oak Ranch for $3,800.
Highest selling bull:
For $2,000 was Lot 78 a six month old TLC Major sired bull calf; Mr. TLC Major M215. He sold to returning buyers Harry and Luella Thomsen of Stilwell, Okla. They got a herd sire for their growing herd.
Top selling 16 18 Month old Breeding bull:
Lot 1, Mr. TLC Black King L1245, Dam TLC Queen 67222 and sired by Black Icon for $1,700 to Double JJ Farms of Greenbrier, Tenn.
Top selling yearling bull:
Lot 18, TLC Black Rock a Black Icon son that sold to Mike Wales of Southwest City, Mo. for $1,200. His dam, Ms SCS D4240 sold to L & B's Broken Oak for $3,500.
