Customer acceptance and demand was rock solid during Camp Cooley Ranch's Annual Registered Bull and Female Sale, Nov. 16-17, at the ranch near Franklin, Texas.

A total of 476 registered buyers traveled from 16 states and Mexico to bid on 125 purebred Brangus females Friday evening, and a select offering of 405 Brangus, Charolais and Angus bulls the following day. The sale marked the 10th anniversary of Camp Cooley Ranch's ownership under Klaus Birkel, and was a fitting testimony of the customer satisfaction developed over the past decade. One of the strongest production sales in the beef cattle industry, this year's sale attracted by far the largest crowd of any previous Camp Cooley Ranch sale.

Topping the offering was a yearling Charolais bull, CCR Jackpot 1410K5, who brought $60,000 for � interest and full possession from River Bend Ranch, Idaho Falls, Idaho. This Prime Cut son out of Camp Cooley's best Wyoming Wind daughter was the #1 and #2 ranked bull in the sale for yearling and weaning weight respectively, while remaining negative for birth weight EPD. River Bend was represented by General Manager Matt Maurer.

The second high selling bull, Decade Of Brinks 209K26, was a fall Brangus son of The Natural Of Brinks out of a Kansas Jack daughter who went to The Farm, Ocala, Fla., on a $17,500 bid for � interest and full possession.

A � interest in another son of The Natural Of Brinks, Natural Design Of Brinks 75K, sold for $15,000 to Murray Watson Jr., Mart, Texas. The spring bull was out of a Special Addition daughter. Also commanding $15,000 was Upside Of Brinks 415K21, a fall Bright Side son out of a Vaquero Of Brinks daughter. Full interest and possession sold to Bold Star Ranch, Allen, Texas.

The high selling Angus bull was Daltons Ambush 0223, a fall Ambush son out of a D H D Traveler 6807 daughter who brought $3,800 from Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas.

A choice pair lot topped the Brangus female sale when Circle M Ranch, Ingram, Texas, paid $13,000 to select the dam of this pair pick. He selected Ms Brinks Transformer 240G13, a Transformer female out of a Newsmaker daughter bred to calve in the spring to KO Of Brinks.

Miller Farm, Waynesboro, Tenn., purchased the second high selling female on an $11,000 bid. Miss Brinks Heavy Duty 541E8 was a first generation 1995 daughter of Nichols Heavy Duty X100 bred to Good Fortune Of Brinks 14H3 for a spring calf.

The breakdown on the sale is as follows:

22 featured and elite Brangus bulls grossed $161,650 to average $7,348; 69 spring Brangus bulls grossed $226,900 to average $3,288; 124 fall Brangus bulls grossed $328,300 to average $2,648. A total of 215 Brangus bulls grossed $716,850 to average $3,334.

A total of 40 Charolais bulls grossed $173,150 to average $4,328 and a total of 50 Angus bulls grossed $116,300 to average $2,326.

A total of 125 registered Brangus females grossed $348,800 to average $2,790 and 206 commercial Brangus females grossed $187,420 to average $910.

Volume bull buyer of the sale was Sweetlake Land & Oil, Bell City, La. Volume registered female buyer was Circle M Ranch and volume buyer of the commercial females was Hunnicutt Farms, Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
