A huge crowd was on hand to see the 45 bulls sold in the 32nd Clemson Bull Test Sale on February 2. They brought $79,100 -- an average of $1,757.78 per bull. This is a $8.76 per bull increase over the 2001 sale. MPAC Angus' high﷓gaining #26 senior Angus bull topped the sale when Beaty Farms from Abbeville, S.C. paid $4,000 for him. The second high-selling bull at $3,800 was the #10 junior Angus bull consigned by Stillwater Cattle Co. Buyer was Setzler Farms from Newberry, S.C. The third high-seller was MPAC's #1 junior Angus bull at $3,600 going to Greene Farms at Jackson, S.C. Volume buyer was Nichols Poultry Farm at Saluda, S.C. who purchased three Charolais bulls. Buyers were from four states – S.C. (39 bulls), N.C. (2 bulls), GA (2 bulls) and NV (2 bulls). On Wednesday before the sale, the 45 bulls averaged 457 days-old, 53.6 inches tall, 6.3 frame score, 1,450 lbs, 3.18 lbs/day WDA and 37.4 cm scrotal circumference.

In the 20th Clemson Replacement Heifer Sale, 18 pens with 54 heifers brought $33,890 - an average of $627.59 per heifer. All of the top five selling pens were consigned by Blue Lake Farm at Sharon, S.C. Double B Farm at Gaffney, S.C. purchased the top two selling pens from Blue Lake for $875 and $810 per head, respectively. Volume buyer was Whip-O-Will from Mocksville, N.C. who purchased four pens with 11 heifers to use as recipients for its Brangus embryo transplant program. Average pelvic area and weight were 187.4 cm2 and 883 lbs, respectively.
