November 15-16, 2002

Franklin, Texas — Over 400 buyers from 17 states were represented at Camp Cooley Ranch's “Road To Profit II” Sale, November 15-16, near Franklin, Texas. In true Camp Cooley Ranch form, the cattle were well presented and the hospitality top notch. Friday's events led off with a panel discussion on “The Power Of Data,” followed by the registered Brangus female sale and steak dinner for over 800 guests. Saturday morning brought beautiful weather and a large crowd for the much anticipated Brangus, Angus and Charolais bull sale.

Brangus Female Sale

Leading the female offering was Lot 462, purchased by Salacoa Valley Ranch for $12,000. This pick lot enables the buyer to select any Camp Cooley Ranch 2002 spring born heifer.

Lot 461, Miss Brinks Milky Way 99E51, became the second high selling female when she brought $9,000 from Dr. Max Purdy. This proven bred donor descends from the carcass-noted 99 cow family, and several of her sons sold in the bull sale.

The next high selling female was Lot 460, Miss Brinks Milky Way 541E4, who went to repeat buyer Jack Moore on an $8,500 bid. She sold with a tremendous Uppercut heifer calf and is the dam of the third high selling Brangus in the bull sale.

Commanding fourth high selling honors was Lot 474, a choice heifer pick lot that brought $7,400 from Raymond Shelton. This Bright Side daughter led a powerful set of choice and open females.

Brangus Bulls

The high selling Brangus bull (and sale topper overall) was Lot 109, Flagship Of Brinks 24L2. Gary Dillahunty and Associates paid $55,000 to own ½ interest in the Cadence son out of a Transformer daughter. He simply dominated the yearling bull offering by bending the curve with an 18.5-inch REA and superior growth performance, while maintaining a negative BW EPD and positive milk.

A CEO x Powerline son, Nimitz Of Brinks 75L12 (Lot 121), brought the second high bid of $19,000 for ½ interest. He went to repeat customers and cooperators, Gary Clem and Michael Bennett.

Another ½ interest in Captain Of Brinks 541L34 (Lot 205) sold for $11,500 to Kelly Grissom. The deep sided, wide based KO Of Brinks son is out of a Milky Way daughter and is also a full brother to New Era Of Brinks.

Close behind was Lot 45, Leader Of Brinks 302L, one of the first Lead Time sons to ever sell who is out of a Challenger daughter. Repeat customer Ronnie Link of The Eagles' Ranch paid $10,000 to own ½ interest.

Charolais Bulls

The tremendous power and performance of Lot 265, CCR Pr Tim 72L9, caught the attention of Mayes Cattle Co., who paid $4,800 to own the Prime Time x 2244 yearling bull.

The second high selling Charolais bull was Lot 319, CCR Duke 8953L2, also going to Mayes on a $4,000 bid. This Duke 261 x Sir Perfection 9019 son presented a large birth-to-yearling EPD spread coupled with a 3.8-pound ADG.

John Jarvis bid $3,500 to own Lot 249, M&M BudsMyDad 1011 Pld. The deep sided, big ribbed coming 2-year-old was by RC Budsmydad and out of a Duke 748 daughter.

Angus Bulls

A ½ interest in Lot 398, Cooley Rib I 1093, sold to repeat buyer Forrest Rhemann on a $5,000 bid. The yearling Rito 6I6 x Paramount Ambush son was aptly named for his wealth of carcass genetics.

An Expectation x Regal 1459 son, CCR Expectation 1114 (Lot 408), became the second high selling Angus bull when he went to Justin Gleghorn on a $3,600 bid.

Close behind were two Angus bulls that each brought $3,500. Lot 369, CCR BAR EXT 1004, went to Forrest Rhemann, while Lot 401, CCR Ultravox 1098, went home with William McNeill.
