T. J. Parham and his wife, Billie, owners of Parham Angus Farms from Centerville are getting to be a familiar name at the University of Tennessee Central Bull Test Station. For the second year in a row, they were the breeder and consignor of the high gaining bull at the senior test. This year's high gaining bull, a SAF 598 Bando 5175 sired son, topped the senior 112 day gain test with a 5.82 pound per day gain. The bull's adjusted 365 day weight was 1453 pounds and his frame score was 8.4. He was purchased by Lester Hardaway of Duck River for $4,200. The high selling bull in the sale was another Parham Angus consignment sired by Connealy Bottomline that went to Barney Jones from Smiths Grove, Ky. This bull had an average daily gain of 4.58, an adjusted 365 day weight of 1407 and a frame score of 7.5. The third high selling bull was consigned by Mills Angus of Cookeville and was purchased by U. M. Rogers of Morristown.
A total of 78 Angus bulls were sold in the sale for an average price of $2,245. Volume buyer in the sale purchasing six bulls was Terry Johnson of Columbia. Nine bulls were purchased in the sale from the two remote tele-video sites in Greeneville and Knoxville.
