The Alabama State “Simmental Solutions” Sale was a big success. This year's sale was held in the great facility of the Mid State Stockyard at Letohatchee, Ala. The twenty breeders in Alabama and the Southeast consigned a quality offering to be appraised by buyers from six different states.
The top selling lot was Lot 39, a bred heifer consigned by Little Mountain Farm, from Huntsville, Ala. She sold to J.T. Austin at Douglasville, Ga. Also selected for the Austin program was CDR Mahlah, a CD Ranch consignment from Marianna, Fla. This Desperado daughter sold for $3,000.
Top selling cow/calf pair was consigned by B & B Cattle Farm. The cow sold for $1,400, going to Addy Farms at Lauren, S.C. The heifer calf sold for $1,075 to Nickel and Dime Farms at Six Mile, S.C.
The top selling open was consigned by Boyd Farms from New Brockton. This Lucky Break daughter sold for $1,600 to Jake Blackmon at Elba, Ala. The top half blood opens were consigned by Fred and Michael Beck from Northport, Ala. The buyer swept the ring taking all three heifers sired by CHCF Black Rocket for $1,350 each. The buyer was Steven Petcher from Citronelle with one heifer going to neighbor Steve Gilley of Wagerville, Ala.
The high selling pregnancy was consigned by Triple M Farms. This pregnancy was sired by Hero and the Triple M donor Fiala. Diamond J Simmental from Kaufman, Texas selected this lot for $2,350. Also, Diamond J selected embryos from the Unforgettable donor for $450 each, to total $2,250.
The total bull was Lot 74, consigned by Harkings Stock Farm from Georgia. The herdsire went to Maynard Sylvest from Hope Hull, Ala., for $1,800.
Cattle sold to the states of Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.
