The 15th Annual Yon Family Farms Performance Tested Angus & Charolais Bull Sale was held at the farm in Ridge Spring, S.C. on February 19, 2005. A total of 121 bulls sold, with 112 yearling Angus bulls selling for an average of $2,942, and 9 yearling Charolais bulls averaging $1,717.
Topping the sale was Lot 25, a son of CA Future Direction at $7,250. He sold to Robert Wagner from Loudon, Tenn. The 2nd high bull, Lot 1, was a son of Bon View New Design 878 and he was selected by Gene Roe of Montmorenci, S.C. for $6,500.
McDuffie Feed & Seed from Thomson, Ga. selected Lot 3, another 878 son, at $5,500 as the third high selling bull. Meadow Lane Farm, Louisburg, N.C., chose a GAR Gridmaker son, Lot 10, who was the 4th top bull and he sold for $5,250. Three bulls sold for $4,750 including Lot 7, by SAV 598 Bando 5175, to McDuffie Feed & Seed; Lot 16, a Bon View New Design 208 son to Quaker Hill Farm in Virginia, and Lot 18, by 878 to H.R. James in Jacksonville, Fla.
Over 64 percent of the bulls sold to repeat buyers from the Yon performance program, with eighteen of the top twenty-five selling bulls going to repeat customers. United Producers, Columbus, Ohio, purchased eight bulls for their lease program, making them the volume buyer of the day.
As an added attraction to the sale, the Yon's also sponsored their Open House, offering special deals on Powder River equipment, Tru Test Scales, and Stafix Fencing, feed, minerals, and animal health products.
