Sale records fell all over the place at the 2005 Clemson Bull Test and Heifer Sale on February 5. The 55 bulls brought $133,050 – an all time Clemson Bull Test Sale record average of $2,419.09 per bull. This is $521.97 per bull higher than last year. Buyers were from four states – South Carolina (47 bulls), North Carolina (1 bull), Georgia (6 bulls) and Alabama (1 bull). Volume buyer was James M. Scott from Greenwood, S.C. Several buyers purchased two bulls. This was also the best performing and heaviest group of bulls ever sold at Clemson. On top of their record ADG of 4.11 lbs/day during thes test, the 55 sale bulls averaged 462 days-old, 53.2 inches tall, 6.1 frame score, 1,469 lbs., 3.19 lbs/day WDA and 38.8 cm scrotal circumference on sale day.

Double B Farms' six senior Angus and Stillwater Cattle Co.'s 22 junior Angus bulls tied for top-selling bull honors at $4,600 each. Double B's bull was purchased by Danny Mixon at Orangeburg, S.C. Stillwater's 22 bull was purchased by James M.Harper, Jr. of Greenville, S.C. Five bulls sold for $4,000 plus. Paul Boyd Angus's 43 junior bull was the second high-selling bull at $4,300 to JCO Farm at Allendale, S.C. The top 11 sellling bulls averaged $3,900.

The Heifer Sale continued the record-setting day when 12 pens with 40 heifers sold for $37,050 – an average of $926.25 per head. This was $177.29 per heifer higher than last year. Greg Beam's, Edgefield, S.C., top-selling pen of four black AN-GVx heifers started the sale at $1,075 per head. Brickhouse Farm at Gaffney, S.C., purchased this outstanding pen of heifers. Five pens of heifers brought $1,000 per head or more. Just like last year, the volume buyer was Magnolia Hill Farms at Blythewood, S.C. – four pens, 15 heifers from Herndon Farms at Bamberg, S.C. Average weight was 813 lbs.
