The Southeast Brangus Breeders Association's Annual Convention and Showcase Female Sale began it's busy weekend with several business meetings on Friday morning. Friday afternoon, Dr. Joe Massey, Executive Vice President of the International Brangus Breeders Association gave the members an “Update on IBBA Activities.” IBBA staff personnel then introduced the attendees to the IBBA's recently released internet website. The new website registry system allows members to enter their herd data and receive immediate feedback. A “hands-on” workshop was held so that everyone was able to try the new system and ask questions.

Friday evening was time for fun and fellowship. The pre-sale dinner and banquet were again held at the beautiful Hickory Ridge Lodge, an “out in the country” lodge that provided an outstanding dinner. The evening concluded with live entertainment provided by “Three on a String.”

Saturday's Showcase Female Sale was well attended and the quality of the cattle were the best ever offered. The consignors are to be commended for the quality of cattle that were nominated. The breed improvement made in the Southeast over the past few years showed. The offering included something for everyone; open heifers, bred heifers, pairs, bred cows and 3 N 1's.

The weekend was fast, fun and educational.
