This fourth annual open to the world sale once again was a highlight for producers from across the country. Mettler Sale Management on-the-farm selections guaranteed that the participating producers brought some of their very best to this event and they were rewarded by their efforts with excellent prices.

Topping the sale with a consignment from J&K Farms, Jerry and Karen Wilson from Ava, Ill. was Lot #4 at $8,500. This beautifully patterned feminine SPUR Kings Ransome daughter shared the same dam as the $85,000 LWHF Fearless bull and her pedigree credentials attracted buyers from coast to coast. Prevailing with the final bid was Little Bull Farm, Parker Corum from Manchester, Ky.

Little Bull Farm struck again by purchasing the second high selling consignment, Lot 36/36A, from Mettler Gelbvieh, Jerry Mettler from Canton, S.D. for $5,100. This daughter of SPUR Kings Ransome along with her two month old heifer calf sired by SPUR Beretta should be another positive addition to the quality herd that Parker Corum is accumulating. The final contending bidder for each of these top selling lots was Floyd Farms, Ray Floyd from Waynesboro, Ga.

Topping the very select bull offering was Lot #38 from Ledbetter Farms, Wayne and Lynn Ledbetter from Black Mountain, N.C. RWLF Cedar Creek 126N, 3/14/03, homozygous black, multiple polled, sired by JBOB Carolina Carhart 3100K ET had near perfect EPD's. $3,200 was the winning bid from Alex Miller from New Market, Tenn.

Two female lots tied for next high selling honors at $3,900. Lot #10, consigned by Dr. Tom Lavelle from Wytheville, Va. was a high volume homozygous polled, homozygous black 10/7/00 daughter of SEAJ Long Haul and out of the proven donor cow, DCSF Post Rock Gwen 24D2 ET. Green Hills Gelbvieh from Mt. Ulla, N.C. added this future donor cow to their line-up of quality proven females.

The other $3,900 consignment traveled from Mettler Gelbvieh, Canton, S.D. to Knoxville and ultimately to Little Bull Farm from Manchester, Ky. Another SPUR Kings Ransome sired first calf heifer with a SPUR Beretta bull calf at side, Lot #37/37A, found many friends as the Ransome daughters exhibited volume, thickness, femininity, and near perfect teat/udder structure.

Lot #17, DKCB Beulah 08N ET, attracted a crowd in her stall homozygous black, homozygous polled, bred to SPUR Kings Ransome, and a full sib to the $12,000 DKCB Buford bull, here was a bred heifer that simply boasted balance and completeness. Brought to Knoxville by Mackey Farms, Mars Hills, N.C. she will be entering the donor program for Whitworth Gelbvieh from Westview, Ky. on their $3,500 winning bid.
