October 2, 2004
Harrison, Ark.

The Gathering Sale, hosted by the Greg Hudspeth Family, was held October 2, 2004 at the Cattleman's Livestock Auction in Harrison, Ark. This unique event showcases three breeds of cattle in three separate auctions with Charolais starting the day, followed by Red Angus and finishing with Simmental. The Hudspeth Family composed the backbone of the Red Angus offering with help from a select group of area consignors.

Red Angus Results:

One of the highlights of the day was Lot l0lA and B from the Hudspeth Farm, St Joe, Ark. l0lA was a Grandcanyon X JKG Chiefton L303 three year old cow and l01B was her Beckton Cherokee M789 February heifer calf. The buyer had choice of one half interest in the cow or her outstanding heifer calf in her entirety. After very active bidding, the winner was Ken Marquis of Ithaca, N.Y. at $5,500 and as the dust settled, he selected both the ½ interest in the cow and the calf for $11,000 total.

Another of the highlights came from Neo Sho Farm of Southwest City, Mo. in Lot 114. This lot was a choice of the entire Spring '04 heifer calf crop. Again, after active bidding, the dust settled at $6,500 with the winning bid going to R.A. Brown Ranch of Throckmorton, Texas.

Lot 135, a Badlands Cut Above bred heifer from the famed Queen Jewel cow family (James 904) sold to Severance Red Angus of Palermo, N.D. for $5,200. She was safe in calf to UBAR Grand Prix, due to calve January 16th and was consigned to the auction by Trinity Creek Farm, Carbon Hill, Ala. and Star G Ranch, Douds, Iowa.

Lot 103 from Hudspeth Farms sold to Andras Stock Farm of Manchester, Ill., for $3,500. She was a BJR Make My Day 981 X BIM Julian Yoyo cow safe in calf to Major League and due in January '05. At $3,000, Lot 102A from Hudspeth sold to Dave and Gwyn Schramm, Moville, Iowa. It was a Future Flush on the famed RABS Ms Flower H7523 (dam of Brown Vacation) to the bull of the buyer's choice. Also at $3,000 was Lot 106, a January heifer calf by Major League X Lchmn Sharpshooter from Hudspeth to Neo Sho Farm, Southwest City, Mo. Lot 133 from Rush Red Angus was a tremendous Glacier High Country X Andras Shameless February 2004 heifer calf and sold for $2,900 to Hudspeth Farms, St Joe, Ark.

Rethal King, Harrison Ark., selected Lot 116 from Parker Ranch of Fort Smith, Ark., at $2,750. This lot was a choice of the entire Fall '04 heifer calf crop with selection and pick up available at the Parker Ranch spring bull sale in March. Rounding out the top selling lots at $2,700 was 104 and 168A. Lot 104 was a Make My Day 981 X None Better 9604 female bred to Major League for a January calf and sold to Jordan Methvin, St. Joe, Ark. Lot 168A was a Red Spread X RHRA Rambo 820 25B March heifer that generated a lot of attention in the pens prior to the auction - she sold to the Owens Bros. of Bois D' Arc, Mo. Both of these lots were consigned by Hudspeth Farms.
