A large crowd watched the 62 bulls sold at the 2006 Clemson Bull Test Sale on February 4th bring $132,050 - an average of $2,129.84 per bull. Buyers were from three states – South Carolina (49 bulls), North Carolina (8 bulls) and Georgia (5 bulls). Volume buyer was Home Place Farms from Blackville, S.C. -- four Angus bulls. The bulls averaged 459 days old, 52.8 inches tall, 5.9 frame score, 1,463 lbs, 3.19 lbs/day WDA and 36.2 cm scrotal circumference on Monday before the sale.

Deercreek Angus Farms' 34 senior Angus was the high selling bull at $5,000 to Bill Caldwell from Chester, S.C. Second high seller was Trax Cattle's 72 red junior Gelbvieh bull at $4,500 to Shady Hill Farm at Ridge Spring, S.C. This was a new Gelbvieh record sale price. Riverhill Farm's top gaining 21 senior Angus bull was the third high selling bull at $4,200 to D & L Farms at Chapel Hill, N.C. The top nine selling bulls averaged $3,744.44 per bull.

In the 2006 Clemson Heifer Sale following the bull sale, 63 heifers in 19 pens sold for $56,260 - an average of $893.02 per head. The average weight of the heifers was 853 lbs. The top two selling pens were Edisto Research & Education Center's #14 and #15 pens of three registered Angus heifers purchased by Bill Buckner from Burnsville, N.C. for $1,075 and $1,000 per head, respectively. Buckner was the volume buyer with the three pens (10 head) of Edisto REC's registered Angus heifers.
