Aliceville, Ala.

The Reznicek family warmly welcomed a large crowd of repeat and new customers along with family and friends to the Cow Creek Ranch Bull Sale and Customer-Owned Commercial Heifer Sale, October 13 & 14, 2006, at their ranch near Aliceville, Ala. The family owned and operated ranch has become known for its thick, meaty bulls raised and developed the way bulls should be raised.

More than 200 buyers and bidders traveled from 13 states to appraise the Cow Creek Ranch two-day offering. When the final gavel tap sounded, 309 Cow Creek Ranch bulls averaged $3,240 and 557 customer-owned commercial bred heifers averaged $1,106. The two-day sale grossed $1,638,675. Commercial cattlemen represented the vast majority of sale attendees who have become accustomed to the depth of quality, moderation and muscle mass in the Cow Creek Ranch genetic program. A total of 120 buyers took home Cow Creek Ranch cattle of which 79, or 66 percent, were repeat Cow Creek Ranch customers.

The two top selling lots in the bull sale both earned a price tag of $12,500. Repeat buyers Don Atkinson and brothers Joey and John Doyle teamed up to purchase CCR Pathfinder 340R2, a deep-ribbed, thick topped, commanding bull. Calved on March 29, 2005, this bull posted an impressive weaning weight of 702 pounds as well as strong overall ultrasound numbers.

Travis Murphy had the final bid of $12,500 on CCR Sleep Easy 307R5. This massive, powerfully made bull had a tremendous amount of admirers who appreciated his growth numbers and his overall completeness. The bull attracted even more attention with his healthy, economically strong growth, maternal and carcass Profit Point System Index numbers.

The team of Atkinson and the Doyle brothers again joined forces to own CCR Pathfinder 4861R4. The overwhelming thickness and muscle mass of this bull produced a selling price of $11,250. Bidders on this lot were captivated by his strong performance and ultrasound readings and his Profit Point System maternal index number of .97, a near perfect number.

Commanding a $10,000 price sticker was what most cattlemen considered to the thickest, heaviest muscled bull in the sale offering, CCR Ultrablack 1R. Tim Johnston added the wide-tracking, deep-hipped bull to his commercial cattle operation. The genetic potential of the March 2005, Buck Creek sired bull is virtually unlimited.

The customer-owned commercial bred heifer sale marked its 12th consecutive year of occurrence and was endorsed by cattlemen from the Southern U.S. Commercial heifer buyers came to Cow Creek Ranch to do business and capitalize on the strong genetically source-verified offering. All heifers sold were sired by Cow Creek Ranch bulls and bred back to Cow Creek Ranch bulls. More than half of the 37 buyers taking home commercial bred heifers were repeat customers. The sale's high standards are what keep customers coming back.
