The 2006 Edisto Forage Bull Test Sale was held on Saturday, October 14. Forty-five bulls brought $110,150 – an average of $2,448 per bull. The 31 buyers were from South Carolina – 34 bulls; North Carolina – six bulls; and Georgia – five bulls. Volume buyer was Country Boy Farms from North Augusta, S.C. with five five bulls – three Angus and two Balancers. The bulls averaged 608 days old, 54.1” tall, 5.6 frame score, 1,641 pounds and 37.5 cm scrotal circumference on sale day. In 23 Edisto sales, 1,023 bulls have been sold for $2,217,225 – an average of $2,167 per bull.
Cuffy Creek Farm's black, polled 48 Gelbvieh bull was the high yearling weight and high-selling bull at $4,100, to Baker Brothers Farm at Monroe, N.C. He weighed 1,950 pounds on sale day and was the heaviest Gelbvieh bull ever sold at Edisto. Kathwood Plantation's record-setting 63 Red Angus bull was the second high-seller at $4,000, going to Hudson Red Angus at Broxton, Ga. The third-high selling bull was Fox Run Farms' 45 Angus bull going for $3,700 to Springdale Plantation at Blackville, S.C. The top 11 selling bulls averages $3,482.
