Fifty two bulls were sold in the 2007 Clemson Bull Test Sale on February 3rd. They brought $102,700 - an average of $1,975 per bull. Buyers were from South Carolina - 41 bulls, North Carolina - five bulls, Georgia - five bulls and Alabama - one bull. The bulls averaged 464 days old, 52.9 inches tall, 5.9 frame score, 1,467 lbs, 3.16 lbs/day WDA and 36.3 cm scrotal circumference on Wednesday before the sale. Volume buyers were Circle H Farm from Greer, S.C. - three bulls and George Boswell from Greensboro, Ga. - three bulls.
MPAC Angus' 1 senior Angus was the high selling bull at $5,100 to the Clemson Beef Farm at Clemson, S.C. Second high seller was Double B Farms' 17 senior Angus bull at $3,800 to Sunny Acres Farm at Trenton, S.C. Rice Farms' 20 senior Angus bull was the 3rd high selling bull at $3,700 to George Durham from Williamston, S.C. The top nine selling bulls averaged $3,500 per bull.
In the 2007 Clemson Heifer Sale which followed the bull sale, 42 heifers in 15 pens sold for $40,950 - an average of $890.22 per head. The average weight of the heifers was 866 lbs. The top three selling pens of heifers were consigned by the Edisto Research & Education Center at Blackville, S.C. Larry Cantrell from Seneca, S.C. purchased pen 10 - three crossbred heifers at $1,025 each. Wes Woodard Farms at Darlington, S.C. purchased pen 11 - four crossbred heifers at $1,000 each and pen 12 - four crossbred heifers at $1,000 each. Volume heifer buyers were R. W. Bussey from Clarks Hill, S.C. - heifers, Wes Woodard Farms from Darlington, S.C. - eight heifers, and Robert Baker from Lancaster, S.C. - eight heifers.
