The 7P Ranch 13th Annual Spring Bull and Commercial Female Sale was held February 17, 2007 at 7P Ranch near Tyler, Texas. No seats available was the order of the day as the standing room only crowd witnessed this annual sale.
Eighty bulls sold for an average of $1,814. Of the 80 total bulls, 71 were purebred Simmental and averaged $1,796 while 9 SimAngus bulls averaged $1,950. The high selling bull sold for $2,900 and actually three bulls commanded this price.
Lot 3 was a two year old SimAngus bull sired by the 7P Ranch herdsire, Mr 7P L382, a Nichols Blk Destiny D12 son, that sold to Joey Sliva, Baytown, Texas.
Lot 43, a yearling purebred Simmental bull sired by Mr 7P K284, went to Barnett Farms, Dubach, Louisiana. Lot 68 also sold for $2,900—he was a yearling purebred Simmental bull sired by Ellingson Black Perfector and sold to M. J. Florence, Troup, Texas.
A total of 216 commercial females were sold, mostly in groups of five, and averaged $1,249. 7P Ranch sold 62 of these females that consisted of exposed and open F1 Brahman x Hereford, Brangus type and Simmental cross heifers for an average of $1,059 per head. Two guest consignors sold the balance of the commercial females. Sun Bar Ranch, Winona, Texas sold 70 heavy and medium bred Brangus type heifers for an average of $1,214 per head. North Star Ranch, Winona, Texas sold 74 heavy and medium bred heifers and 10 pairs of Brangus type and F1 Brahman x Hereford (many Tigerstripes) for an average of $1,418.
High selling commercial females consisted of one lot of five heavy bred Brahman x Hereford “Tigerstripe” heifers that sold to James Shelton of Round Rock, Texas for $1,550 per head.
Volume bull buyers at the sale included Ehrig Brothers, Gonzales, Texas and Joey Sliva, Baytown, Texas. Volume commercial female buyer was James Shelton, Round Rock, Texas. Auctioneer for the sale was Mark Tillman, Junction, Texas. Warren Garrett, Canton, Texas served as sale consultant.
