Red Angus Sale

The Greg Hudspeth Family hosted The Gathering Sale on November 17, 2007 at the Cattleman's Livestock Auction Barn in Harrison, Ark. A very nice crowd was on hand to buy the 150 head of Red Angus cattle and embryo lots.

Topping the field at $6,000 was Lot #150 from Paul Angus Farm of Albany, Mo. to Brylor Ranch, Pincher Creek, AB Canada and Walnut Springs Farm Hokpins, Mich. She was a RD Dividend 7F X Red Brylor Dynastar 19S from the famed Cherok cow family. At $3,300, Lindsey Hudspeth selected Lot #141 from Mont Vue Farm, Lenoir City, Tenn. She was a Lchmn Grandcanyon 12446 X Leachman Robust 7222 and AI bred to LCB Jewel Maker N155. Lot #156 was third high selling cow going to Keith Kelley Grand Island, Neb., for $3,100. She was a Cherokee Canyon X Glacier Logan 210 cow bred to LCC New Chapter and consigned by Paul Angus Farm Albany, Mo. Lot 158 was also consigned by Paul Angus Farm and sold for $3,000 to Hust Cattle Co. Slaughters, Ky. She was a Lchmn Sharpshooter 1369 X Lman Robin Hood 1174B bred to LCC New Chapter.

The cow/calf pairs were solid all day with the Lot 160 pair topping the field, consigned by Paul Angus Farm, Albany, Mo. The cow, a LSF Combination X Leachman Equalizer sold for $2,400 to Axtell Cattle Co., Anton, Colo. and the Pauls's Chiefline 5140 heifer calf sold for $1,300 to Kaylee Hartsfield, Rector, Ark. Lot 107 sold for $3,000 to Grill Cattle Co., Hot Springs, S.D. She was consigned by the Greg Hudspeth Family and was a JSN J 27 X RD Dividend 7F daughter with an October LJC Javelin M08 heifer calf at side. Also selling at $3,000 from Paul Angus Farm was Lot 155 selling to Axtell Cattle Co., Anton, Colo., and her heifer calf sold to Elizabeth Grenus, Harrison, Ark.

In the open heifers, Lot 163B brought $3,750 going to Hust Cattle Co., Slaughters, Ky. She was a 5L Signature 5615 daughter from the Pauls Miss Wix 563 cow. Lot 168 sold to Brock Elkins, Dyersburg, Tenn., for $2,200. She was a September Glacier Chateau 744 X BJR Monu 4X 303 consigned by Rush Red Angus of Jasper, Mo. Lot 145 from Mont Vue Farm, Lenoir City, Tenn. sold for $1,800 to Hust Cattle Co., Slaughters, Ky. She was a September WCC King Kong L313 X Glacier Logan 210 open heifer. Rounding out the top selling open heifers at $1,750 was Lot 166 from Rush Red Angus, Jasper, Mo. She was a February Make Mimi 7249 X NBAR Bo Didly daughter and sold to Clarence Martin, Neo Sho, Mo.

A flush lot consigned by Lindsey Hudspeth sold for $2,700 going to Evans Charolais, Brownwood, Texas. The cow was a BJR Make My Day 981 X C Line 4781 six year old cow. The top selling pregnant recipient came from the Hudspeth Family selling as Lot # 102. The ET calf in dam was a LJC Javelin M08 X Brown Ms Flower M7806 mating and was due in February '08 and sold to Rick Hale, Louisburg, Mo.

The volume registered buyer was Henry Whitlow/J Bar H Farms, Billings, Mo., with their purchase of six lots: five cow/calf pairs and one bred cow. Volume commercial buyer was Star G Ranch, Inc., Douds, Iowa with their purchase of 24 head. Cattle sold into 14 states and Canada including: Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin and Alberta, Canada. The auction was managed by Amy and Kyle Gilchrist of Douds, Iowa.

$3,200 -- Cow Calf Split. CJC Ms Silver L1570, 8 16 01, by JDJ Silver F303. Rebred to JDJ Wizard 5333 P Heifer calf, 5 16 07, by Sparrows Madrid 7M. From Bill and Raye Arlin, Poteet, Texas. Cow to Rodney Sullins, Everton, Ark. for $1,300. Calf to Myron Toste, Laton, Calif for $1,900.
