November 13, 2010
Lake Park, GA

Wild, crazy, exciting, and unbelievably good are words that still fail to describe the sale day at Blackwater Cattle Company, Lake Park, Ga., on November 13, 2010. This history setting day for Brangus cattle in the Southeast saw a packed tent welcome the red carpet offering from Blackwater Cattle Company and the Coggins Family. A near perfect day in November and a more than perfect crowd witnessed a sale like none other before.

This strong sale offering was deep in quality yearling and coming two year old beef type Brangus bulls, and highlighted by impressive herd sire prospects for seedstock Brangus producers. A sterling group of 15 donor quality Brangus females started the sale day with enormous success that transferred over to the bull sale pens brimming with thick ended, big ribbed, sound footed stock bulls.

The 118 Brangus bulls averaged $4,922 and the 15 elite Brangus females averaged $10,000 for an overall sale average of $5,494 for 133 head of registered Brangus cattle. Blackwater also sold 150 Brangus and Super Baldie young, open heifers from their commercial herd to average $945.

Overall the buyers came from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. The sale was strongly supported by registered Brangus breeders from the above states, but ever more so by quality cow/calf producers who realize the importance of genetically strong stock bulls designed to produce pounds and profit for years to come. The day was historical and beyond our imagination and we humbly say a huge Blackwater THANK YOU!

A few sale highlights are:

The multiple trait leader and breed icon, MC Real Deal 541R3, was the day's $40,000 high selling lot when 3/4 breeding interest and possession sold to Southern Cattle Company, Marianna, Fla., one of the largest multiple breed seedstock producers in the United States.

The second high selling lot brought $25,000 from the final bid of Vanna Farm, Royston, Ga., taking home the first herd sire prospect son of MC Nuff Said 889T50, calved 2-26-2010, who was paired with his donor prospect dam, BWCC Ms Lead Gun 129T8, who was also bred safe back to MC Nuff Said 889T50.

MC Big Deal 889W6, an extraordinary son of MC Real Deal 541R3 and MC Ms Extravagant 889P4, topped at $24,000 from Enzor Brangus, Frisco City, Ala. This herd sire prospect offered incredible genetic predictors along with a 70 lb. birth weight that spread to an amazing 1,450 lb. adjusted yearling weight and 17.3 inch ribeye area.

Iron Farm Cattle Company, Kilgore, Texas made two major acquisitions certain to positively influence their already super genetic program. Iron Farm purchased an embryo flush for $19,000 from MC Ms Extravagant 889P4, the cow many consider the greatest in the Brangus breed who is the dam of the above mentioned $24,000 MC Big Deal 889W6, the below noted $17,000 MC Double Take 889W38, and a full sister to Big Deal that sold this same day for $17,000.

Iron Farm also took home MC Redemption 192W22 for $18,000 who was the thickest ended, widest topped bull in the entire sale with a huge 938 lb. adjusted weaning weight, a 17.6 inch ribeye, and 5.7 percent marbling score.

Red Bird Meadows Ranch is well known as the program that produced MC Jethro 00S3, MC Rock Star 924U6, and MC OnStar 924W4, but now also known as the home of MC Double Take 889W38 purchased for $17,000. Double Take is also a son of MC Ms Extravagant 889P4 and possibly Lead Gun's best son to date.
