SALACOA VALLEY BRANGUS BULLS AVERAGE $6,274

Cool temperatures and beginning spring grass greeted a nice crowd of Brangus enthusiasts at the Salacoa Valley Farms Customer Appreciation Sale. The day saw strong bull demand and widespread appreciation for the direction and scope of the Salacoa Valley genetic program, as well as enthusiasm for the ongoing data collection and Seminole Pride branded Beef program of the parent company, The Seminole Tribe of Florida.

The day's top seller, at $20,000 for � interest and full possession was Lot 200 Wall Street of Salacoa 209B5. This Stonewall son is a full brother to the $55,000 � interest heifers sold in Houston earlier this month. Their dam is the powerful 209L11 donor cow and Wall Street records top one percent REA, 10 percent YW EPDs and ratioed 128 on his IMF scan of 5.6. 2H Brangus, Scotty Henderson, Bossier City, La., was the purchaser.

5K Cowbelle Ranch, Wyliss Kemp, Pontotoc, Miss., purchased the day's second high seller when he paid $18,500 for Lot 264, T3 Yosemite 803A2. This big topped and moderate Yosemite son records eight EPD traits in the breed's top 30 percent led by top three percent REA and 10% IMF. His dam is a Csonka daughter out of the $50,000 803M. He was consigned by T3 Brangus, Purvis, Miss.

DS Farms, Davy and Wendy Sneed, McMinnville, Tenn., paid $18,000 to own � interest and full possession of Lot 205, Eisenhower of Salacoa 23Y69. This proven herd sire was consigned by Lake Majestik and Salacoa Valley and boasted breed leading growth with top four percent WW and 15 percent YW and IMF and seven EPD traits in the breed's top 15 percent or greater.

Lot 206, Clvr Treasure 99A14 was the 4th high seller at $15,500 for 2/3 interest and full possession. This full brother to the $16,000 Clvr Marlboro purchased last fall by Salacoa Valley, sold to Shoestring Ranch, Roxton, Texas and was a cooperator bull from Clover Ranch, Marietta, Ga.

L&K Farms, Lewis and Kathy Rice, Monticello, Ga., purchased the next high seller as they paid $10,000 to own Lot 214, Salacoa Kahn 77A. This big bodied R532 grandson is out of a first calf heifer, a Stonewall daughter who earned her way into the donor group. He posts curve bending numbers with top three percent YW, Milk and REA and below breed average BW EPDs.

Murry Farms, Ovett, Miss., purchased the day's high selling female, Lot 47, DDD Ms Gracie 38S3 for $7,000. This L11 daughter is out of the great 38L donor cow. She is one of the few 38L daughters ever to leave Doguet's and is a donor in her own right averaging 8.5 embryos per flush.

The day's second high selling female was Lot 63, Ms 5K CSR Blanda 535X27, an own daughter of 535N60 and a maternal sister to the 535U9 donor that sold for $18,500. Calyx Star, Shuqualak, Miss., paid $6,000 to own this big Milk and Carcass EPD female. She was consigned by 5K Cowbelle Brangus.

Also selling for $6,000 was Lot 5, WF Ms 23S4 and her good 607L11 fall heifer calf, CLVR Bright Side 23B5. The cow was purchased by Triple B Ranch, Calhoun, Ga., for $3,800 safe back to DMR Cochise 55A. The heifer calf was purchased by Sabal Ridge Brangus, Clewiston, Fla., for $2,200.
