Seventy-eight registered buyers from seven states selected cattle from the largest ever Advancing the Breed Braford offering in Lake Charles La., the first Thursday in October. This marked the fifth annual sale sponsored by the United Braford Breeders Association and an outstanding and uniform front end of the Registered Braford bulls found ready acceptance and torrid demand. The registered females from Adams Ranch, Fort Peirce, Fla., sold in groups of 5 and 10 and were met with hearty approval throughout the day.

When the bidding ceased, Lot 206 was the day's high selling lot at $16,750. This powerful herd sire prospect projects light birth with a world of growth while scanning a 14.4 REA. He sold to Pam Burns, Collinsville, Miss. He was consigned by Running M Ranch, Payne Midyette, Tallahassee, Fla.

Boudreaux and Son, Danny Boudreaux, Lake Charles, La., claimed the day's second high selling bull, Lot 141. This big growth, fisrt generation son of RCM Mr Martin Manso 6930 boasted +46 LBS of Yearling growth and a 14.2 REA scan. He was consigned by Bill Ranier Cattle Co, New Summerfield, Texas.

Two bulls claimed the third high selling honors at the Advancing the Breed Sale as Lot 240 sold to Lewis Chandler's Rocking L Ranch, Kennard, Texas, for $9,000. This Red Bull son scanned 4.17 IMF and was consigned by Thunderstorm R Cattle Co, Rodney Robertson, Nacogdoches, Texas.

Also fetching a bid price of $9,000 was Lot 257 from Rainer Cattle Co. This second high selling son of Martin Manso 6930 boasted +50 LBS of yearling growth and scanned a 15.6 REA. He sold to Harvey Ranch, Okeechobee, Fla.

Selling for $8,000 was lot 255, a third Martin Manso son from Ranier. This powerful first generation bull boasted a +53 YW EPD. He sold to Henson Ranch, Buffalo, Texas.

Alleman Cattle Co, Lake Charles, La., also purchased a bull for $8,000 when they paid the bid price for Lot 338, yet another Martin Manso 6930 son with a +44 YW EPD. He was consigned by Bill Ranier Cattle Co, New Summerfield, Texas.

The Adams Ranch Registered bred heifers were topped at $3,000 each on two groups of 10. Lot 604 went to Kent Cattle Co, Cullman, Ala., and Lot 609 went to McFadden Enterprises, Victoria, Texas.
