NUGEN FOUNDATION SALE AND CELEBRATION HELD IN GEORGIA

The first public offering of new, genetically improved and performance-based Santa Gertrudis NuGen cattle were auctioned in at the NuGen Foundation Sale and Celebration in Ringgold, Ga., in mid-April.
Topping the sale was a flush from the NuGen Partnership -- MC Ranch, Alpharetta, Ga.; Wendt Ranch, Bay City, Texas; and Goodin Farms, Austin, Ind. - that sold to Calamity Jane Partners -- LRB Ranches, LLC, Victoria, Texas; Corazon-Pitchford Cattle Co., Athens, Texas; Harris Riverbend Farm, Cleburne, Texas; Corporron Acres, Schulenburg, Texas; and Hampton Hills, California, Mo. - for $32,500.
A semen package, also offered by the NuGen Partnership, sold to Red Doc Farm, Belen, N.M., for $200/straw for 10 straws. MC Ranch sold the high-selling cow-calf pair to Scott Sonntag, Gatesville, Texas, for $10,000.
In the bred heifer division, Kubecka Ranch, Bay City, Texas, took home the top-selling entry from MC Ranch for $7,500. Rounding out a successful sale, MC Ranch also sold the high-selling open heifer for $8,000 to Eric Wiley, Deville, La.
