    New Tarentaise herd sire.

Katherine the Braunvieh do display some degree of sexual color difference just not to the same degree as the Tarentaise or Parthenaise or as mentioned by Taurus, Jersey also. Once you cross them then the color combinations will be variable depending on what they are crossed with. Typically the...

    New Tarentaise herd sire.

In general the Tarentaise breed is not known as a calving ease breed. That being said, as with any breed, it will depend on the breeding behind the individual bull. Charolais are not known as a calving ease breed either, but there are individuals that have calving ease bred into them that can be...

    New Tarentaise herd sire.

The steers don't develop the same color as the bulls. there are other breeds, mostly french that are dimorphic also. Below is a Parthenaise bull and cows and an Aubrac bull and cow and a Bazadaise bull and cow. Aubrac And Bazadaise to a lesser extent.

    Scrotal size

As along a scrotal is within normal range fro the breed at the appropriate age I typically am more interested in the actual semen quality.

A 7 yr old home raised commercial angus bull. Didn't pass his breeding soundness exam this spring, penile deviation too severe to take a chance on, he will make a lot of lean ground beef. :)

    How about this Bull?

Time will tell, 10 years is just enough time for a good start! I wish you the very best of genetic luck in your endeavor, stick with your plan, I think you are off to a good start with what little I know about the genome of your bull. :tiphat:

    How about this Bull?

Even knowing the pedigree intimately for 5 or 6 generations of ones own cattle top and bottom it will always be a bit of a lottery. I like to think a bit less of a lottery, especially if line bred, but every throw of the dice is still a matter of chance to a degree. The genetic boogie man can...

    How about this Bull?

Okay, you are wrong! :lol2: :tiphat: Actually you are right, assuming the sperm cell delivery mechanism is sound enough to get the job done, you are completely right! :tiphat:

    How about this Bull?

For his age and assuming his supplementation/plain of nutrition was moderate at best I see nothing wrong with him. Could he be bigger and fatter? Yes. Does he need to be? No. His pants will fill out as he matures. I develop my bulls very slowly and they don't look like real bulls until they are...

    Larry Leonhardt

Artesianspringsfarm, thank you for the post. Gizmon, thank you so much for sharing this article. I personally am very saddened to hear of Larry's passing. I had the honor of meeting and spending time with Larry and for me he was and will remain a true inspiration, in life and in cattle breeding...
