    Aluminum Livestock Body ?

Does anyone make a 20' or 24' Aluminum Livestock bed any longer? Looking at EBY site only shows a pickup box. I know most have gone to trailers but it seems like there's still a place for a 2 1/2 ton truck to haul cattle. I've even seen 8' covered aluminum beds in the past. Friend had a 12' on a...

    Grease Choice

I've been looking at restocking my grease supply. Locally, I can Get Red N Tacky for 6.99, Shell Rotella HD for 6.49, and Valvolene MP for somewhat higher in addition to TSC generic. Online, I can order R and T for for 6.57, Wolf's Head for 5.23 and Triax Spheron for 5.99. All seem to be rated...

    Battery powered pole saw question

I'm thinking about a battery powered pole saw for trimming branches around field borders. Won't need it but every year or two so I'm thinking a battery model will be better than a gas powered that is only run a short time once a year. Biggest thing I'd cut is about 3-4". Any Suggestions.

Why 16.1" wheels instead of 16"

I see new balers with 16.1" wheels. Why not 16"? I suppose it's to keep people from using used pickup tires.

    Flat Free Tire Experience

I bought a new wheelbarrow made by a major company which came with a flat free tire. I'm about ready to go back to a pneumatic type tire. Pushing this one reminds me of pushing one across soft ground. Is this the way they all are or did I just get one that wasn't packed well?

    Battery brands for pickup

May be having to replace the two batteries in my '93 7.3 IDI diesel. I have equal access to Advance Auto, Auto Zone and O'Reilly's. Also WalMart In looking at prices, all seem to be the same. Expensive. Two of the three auto parts places have Group 65 at 850 CCA and 1000CA.WalMart Group 65N is...

    Old Ford Loader

I keep seeing pictures on a tractor web page with a model of loader Ford used to sell with only one "boom arm". Does anyone know what the purpose was for them? It looks like there would have been too much stress on the tractor. I seem to remember pictures of them being heavily counterweighted

    Warbex

Anyone else ever use this? It was a big thing back in the 70s to get rid of cattle grubs early. Worked for horn flies and lice. We could use a half dose for lice if the cattle had been poured in the fall. Been years since you could buy it. I guess between it and the ivermectins the heel flies...

    Learned something new, again.

I damaged the PTO shaft and my tedder and had to get a new piece. It is an "acorn" shaped import shaft. Measured the sides point to point before I called to see if the repair place had it. Turns out I needed to measure from the one point which is flat to the outside of the opposite side. Works...

    New Holland Pocket knife

How many remember when New Holland Machine Company would give a free Barlow knife to their customers through the dealer ? Used to have a few around. Want to find them sometime. I think they were Kut Master brand. Carbon Steel blade. I'm sure their were a few happy farmer's sons who had them for...

    Gel Battery Question

My 12V Parmak Solar charger stopped recharging after an extended ground out. I tried recharging over the winter but didn't last. With a volt meter, I found one battery has 6.6V and the other 2.4. The unit uses two of their six volt batteries wired together. Can I buy one 6 volt and join it to...

    Block heaters on tractor

If you use a block heater, how long do you have it plugged in? My 6640 Ford will drain a battery quickly if it isn't plugged in at least twenty minutes at temps below freezing. Lately, I've been plugging it in a hour and a half or two hours. Anyone know how many watts the factory ones are? I...

    Fire Extinguishers

For those who carry them, what size and type do you recommend for having when round baling. I've been rolling hay since 1980 and never had a bearing catch fire but had one get hot once and have seen a baler that burned. Thinking I should start carrying one. Guess I need to get out my laser...

    Pocket knives

I know we have discussed it before but it's been a while. Just curious what others do. I carry a Buck Vantage Select tactical folder since I can open and close it with one hand. Carried a stockman for years before that. Or a SodbusterJr, yellow handle carbon. Town, a smaller Vantage, black...

    Stretching Barbed Wire Poll

Just wondering what others use to stretch barbed wire with when installing or repairing. I watched videos with a "walking chain stretcher" and they look neat. A number of people like the Golden rod series. I use a "bulldog" pipe stretcher come for short to medium runs and a 2 ton cable come...
