    Brace post

You dont want to loop the corner. You couldn't stetch it and tie it off if you looped the corner. Just pull to the corner and tie it off, leave plenty of extra. 2 or 3 ft for a later splice. Pull your top wire first as your corners will move a little. your top wire has the most leverage on your...

    supplementing in a hay shortage

Really can't argue with you and wouldn't want to argue with cattle annie, I should be willing to learn but I'm getting old. I consider staw as filler at best. If you have to truck it in and suppliment 90% of your protein and 99% of your energy. Why not buy hay??? Is the differance in price...

LBW and High Growth...Needing good advice

Texans observations are sound. You can now buy char bulls that would work in this situation. no waking up in the middle of the night with bad dreams. But, I still consider Char bulls to be terminal sires. I don't want a bunch of 1800# cows that don't give enough milk.....I hate feeding hay and...

    required hay??

Depending on how cold it is I would say 35 pounds. On cold days maybe up to 55 lbs. Yes they should have free choice minerals year round. The one I feed is a local concocksion with soy bean mill and salt added, 20% protein, self limiting [aprox. 1 lb per day] cost 200.00 per ton. hillbilly

    To much land

I agree with the last sentence, assuming his grandads last ten cows are his best. I would build from them. It's not about economics or how fast you can hit a number. It's about building a cow herd. If you buy your replacments you are not building twords something you are just rolling the genetic...
