    Pistol Hunting

In addition to a pile of squirrels with rimfire handguns I've taken deer, pigs and coyotes with a .44 Mag Ruger Super Redhawk and Contenders in .219 Donaldson or 6.5x30 JDJ. When I'm not on a culling spree and have time to actually hunt a handgun is my weapon of choice.

    .223 or 22-250 or AR308?

While I won't advocate the use of a .22 centerfire as ideal for hogs I won't pass up a shot because I wish I had brought something bigger along. This one was taken after I stayed on stand in the moonlight after it was too dark to hope a cullable doe would show up. Something had been rooting...

Breeding age of brahman influenced heifers

I wouldn't use the term "exempt" unless I knocked on wood immediately afterwards but enough brahman influence will, as a general rule, delay maturity a bit and reduce birth weights as well. Our heifers that are a nominal 3/4 brahman may calve at anywhere between 24 months and 32 months. Oh, and...

    Coon of a different color...

:lol2: I'm going to resist the urge to expound on that comment. :lol2: Nope. We're about 2 hours inland from the coast. My farmer neighbor referred to it as a "yeller coon" and to be neighborly I transported this rascal to our other place (no cropland for a few miles in any direction) and...

    Coon of a different color...

Anyone ever run across one of these guys? This the only coon I've ever seen that wasn't "racoon" colored.

    50# Bag of Corn

$7.25 here, bought from my neighbor that grows it. Same thing about the kernels. Better set that spinner time back or you'll burn through that stuff at an alarming rate... though I doubt the deer will mind.

    speaking of war

John didn't confuse me at all. I'm just wondering what Jogeephus, Beefy and/or Ga. Prime might have done to screw up international relations so badly.

    Red/Black color question

I have a black Brangus cow with her fourth calf (heifer) that I am thinking of retaining. All calves were Red Angus sired and all were black. If this Red Angus sired black heifer were bred to a Red Angus or Hereford bull what color percentage would I most likely have from her calves?

    Mineral Feeders

The problem with metal is the salt in the mineral. IMO plastic that is UV resistant would be the way to go with wood a distant second.

    Tractor Tires

Also, don't get them tubeless. They will eventually leak air around the bead/rim (at least mine did). I had the local service station put tubes in them, problem solved. BTW, they can be mounted with conventional tire mounting equipment because they modify the beads when they refurb the tires.

    Solar Fence Charger

We have three of them set up in various places. Two of them had the control boards go out for some reason but the local co-op fixes them easily enough. They have been in operation for a number of years with no other trouble but having to replace the battery every 2-3 years as can be reasonably...

    Gas Powered Air Compressors

This is the compressor I'm currently looking at: http://mytscstore.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... gPage=true This is not a brand I'm familiar with. It's also a heavy rascal. I don't think I could fight it into the back of a Mule or a pickup without ramps. After looking at several and browsing the...
