    can I clip now?

I no till drilled Fescue (farm owner wanted it) 2 weeks ago in to existing pasture. It's coming up but I was wondering if I could go ahead and clip the pastures as those stupid buttercups (what we call them) have bloomed. I obviously won't be clipping the new Fescue because its too short but...

What is a good pasture seeder/aerator implement? Been searching but not finding much.

    Seeding pastures

We're selling the cattle but they will gradually come off between now and April 30. In other words there will be some on it until April 30 but the number will get smaller over that time.

    Seeding pastures

We've got a 50 acre pasture divided into 4 lots with 29 cows on it. It's all river bottom. Can we seed with the cattle on it? If so what is the best way? Thanks

    E-Ztrail hay bale feeder/wagon

Anyone have or ever use one of these? Looks like a good idea especially if you want to move the hay daily so they're not destroying one area.

    Crossbow

So I sprayed the river fence row with Crossbow which always works good. about 2 1/2 hours after I finished it poured rain for about 20-25 minutes. This particular area has heavy cover (trees) so I was thinking it still might work ok?? Think I'll need to do it again?

    Feeding hay area (gravel?)

Anyone put a gravel area to feed hay on to cut down on mud? If so how did you do it besides just spreading it out.

    Top seed/broadcasting clover

I top seeded/broadcast white & red clover last Saturday and we had good freezing both Saturday and Sunday nights. I still have some to do can I get by if I just have one night of good freezing when I broadcast?

    Pearl Millet

Anyone plant Pearl Millet to graze in late summer early fall? I'm wondering how much grazing I could get out of about 25 acres of it for 550-600 lb. stockers (probably 70-80 of them. I know a lot depends on how well it does etc. but just pickin you all's brains a little.

    Top seed clover (white/red)

Are you saying 30 lbs. of clover per acre or 30 lbs. of N per acre?

    Top seed clover (white/red)

Got it! Thanks Dun and Anazazi I Googled Jim Gerrish and there is tons of good info!

    Top seed clover (white/red)

Bear with me Dun, I'm not sure I understand your post. Are you saying that the grasses will outgrow the clover but will make the clover grow well? That sounds both good. Also, I don't fully understand your statement on the N coming from the clover when the part of the plant dies that has nodules...

    Top seed clover (white/red)

If we top seed clover now when can we expect the added benefit of N from the clover? In other words will we be okay without adding N fertilizer this spring and instead just planting the clover? Also, does Grazon kill clover?

    Top seed clover (white/red)

I'm in southern middle Tn. and I was just told by one of the UT specialist to top seed white?red clover instead fertilizing with N this ear. She said the clover will produce more N in the long haul for in the soil and will save you $ as well. She also said it would probably cheaper to top seed...

    2,4-D or Grazon

If you have used both which were you happiest with? Also, which is most expensive and which is safest for the cattle. I know I can read endless info on the internet but I like to see what real people have discovered in their experiences.

    fertilizing with cow manure

This seems like a no-brainer to use this fertilizer to spread onto our pastures. There are a couple of dairies within 3 miles of this farm so I will visit them and see what they do. I speak American southern English. ;-)

    fertilizing with cow manure

A fortnight is 14 days, right? This is completely a beef cattle operation only. So spread every two to three months and in small areas at a time. I would probably be using a manure spreader that you pull and is belt or chain driven by the wheels and it slings it out the back at a pretty good...
