    Some beach some where

Now seeing as how Americans have a choice to live where they want, why would anyone choose to live in that kind of weather?

anybody missing a longhorn down galveston way?

Looks pretty dang normal for a longorn type to me. But the picture still tells a story. My deepest regards to the folks around the Texas Gulf. I know what it feels like. Wish I could afford the diesel to haul my horses and dogs to you, and help yall get your herds back together.

Re: What would be the best bull for Hereford cows?

Brammers. F1's are hard to beat momma cows.

best place to buy beefmaster cattle?

The best usually aren't the cheapest.

    What happened to shorthorns?

Their influence made one helluva cow when the Beefmaster was born.

    what are they worth

Good and fleshy means they probably still have teeth. Due shortly means they're worth more than cull price. At least 40cwt if they're not dyeing and slap worn out. You could wean calves and still get your $400 back. At least that's a poor man's theory.

    Beefmaster Bulls

I don't have any, but I will seriously consider adding them to my herd in the future.

    Tools or not?

Eyeball works pretty good. Beyond that trial and error. Most commercial cow/calfers are still doing it that way.

What is the largest cattle ranch in the world?

Assuming you are correct, I was extremely mistaken on the size of RI. My bad.

What is the largest cattle ranch in the world?

Might want to recheck the numbers for King. It has always been a given that Deseret is the biggest "cow/calf" producer in the U.S. and I assume The World. While King comes in as the biggest ranch in land mass in the U.S. I've been wrong before, but pretty sure not this time. Regardless, Deseret...

    What Happened to Charbray?

We have more trouble with Charolais cows than any other breed. (Bulls no problem) Just different thinkers I guess. Maybe the heat bakes their brains moreso? Hard to dog break. Combine that with tough and wild woods cattle- you better have 3 horses rested up for that day. Two evils combined to...

    Brangus V. Braford

Consider what will be available in your area too. It always helps to have a ready available supply and a breeder to back up his product. I started a Braford herd because the foundation herd is next door, and they gaurantee every animal they sell against defects. Believe me that helps, especially...

What bull suppliers provide some good Customer Service?

Lora Lasater- ISA Cattle. Beefmaster Foundation. Alto Adams- Adams Ranch. Braford Foundation.

    Lasater BM

Missed an opportunity to meet Mr. Lasater the other day. Couldn't leave the herd while he was touring the ranch with my boss. What a disappointment.

    Ultrasound costs.

I don't know how much our machine was, but we rented a used one to preg 2 different locations at once and I was told It was $8000for the unit, and $5000 for the probe if we didn't return it properly. If I broke it I'd have a little picture of it on my paycheck in the deductions field for years...

    Ultrasound costs.

This what it goes for down here. We have our own machine and got trained by a guru. Unfortunately I was handed the data entry job while the trainer was here, and only got bits and pieces. We did manage to blow through 322 head today, and half of that time was slow for training. Can't be too...

SOMETHING TO BE SAID ABOUT BRANGUS COWS

Brammer influenced cattle just know how to play the game of life a little better than the rest. They are smarter and that just doesn't sit well with most people who prefer dumb cattle that walk into traps without a thought. Believe me I like the dummies too when my horse and I are tired of...

    Gelbvieh heat resistant cross breed

And the Adam's Ranch has already incorporated Gelbveigh into their A-Beef composite cattle. Frankly, I think Gelbveigh need a lot of help when it comes to heat tolerance and living off the land. About the sorriest purebreds I've seen in Florida.

Thoughts on Black Beefmasters/ Anyone have any?

Don't know why anyone would want them to be black, but Beefmasters are darn fine cattle. We've got a herd of them from Lasater at the outfit I work at. We're going to start AI'ing them tomorrow.
