    Cow acting strange

Maybe she just has an antisocial personality. How long have they all been together? I have one cow that sometimes will do that, hang back to see what is going to happen rather than stay with the other girls. :cboy:

Use an animal immobilizer, opposite side of the tailhead from the sore foot, crank it up and she will hand the hoof to you and hold it while you inspect it. ;-) :cboy:

    coccidiosis

One of the most common causes of these outbreaks is using chicken litter on the pastures. It is ok on the hay meadow, but should not be used on the pasture that cattle are grazing. ;-) :cboy:

    Fly Blocks

I can only tell you what I have experienced. It obviously does not get rid of all the flies, but it is not as bad when I use the blocks.I have had better luck with the blocks than using a rub or spending the time and energy to get my cows up to be sprayed.I have also used the rabon by the...

    Fly Blocks

I know they are a little pricey, but I feel that by reducing the fly population they are cost effective.Besides, the girls need a treat now and then. The key to the blocks is getting them out early enough in the year to get a handle on the flies at the beginning of the season. ;-)

    thoughts on this product

That Vet is probably a liberal. Get one,it works, and is more humane because you do not have to fight the cattle to do what needs to be done.Safer for you and the cattle, especially if you have to work them by yourself or with very little help. ;-) :cboy:

    Corn Glutten as Supplement

I feed corn gluten (pelletized), it is 16% protein, I feed it straight, have done so for years and the cows have never had a problem with it,and seem to love it.

    One eartag or Two?

I put one in the heifers/cows/small calves, the bulls get two, one in each ear. I replace them every 6 months or so. ;-) :cboy:

Has anyone ever sued a vet for refusing service?

I would think that vets are as obligated to treat emergencies as human docs are (ethics). But I would think that it would do more good to file a complaint with the vet equivalent of the medical society than a lawsuit. As someone said, the only one to benefit would be the be nice lawyers! I have...
