Is it to early to apply urea?

How early is too early to apply urea on pastures and hay fields in south central Ky? I have always liked to wait unitl first of April to give more time for it to last later in growing season. My ground is kinda wet and might be dry enough to get over Monday. I use urea only as it has chicken...

    Hay shares

I do about 10 acres on a friends farm. He fertilizes, mows and rakes it. I usually ted it if needed. I bale, he moves most of it and loads on my trailer. We do market value on the hay less the charge for baling. It has worked for us for 7-8 years, this year mat test that with fertilizer prices.

    Bought fertilizer today....

Does Brinks transport fertilizer now? If not they should. these prices stated are about what I heard here not long ago. I actually use mostly urea only, did ask what triple 19 was to be curious. Sometime I top dress a little with triple 19 after first cutting.

    Broiler litter

I have been paying about 30 a ton spread for layer litter. Weights were estimated on a few loads being weighed and just averaged out. I actually pay him $60 per acre and figure about 2.5 tons per acre.

    Stacked on tires

Which tarp did you buy? I used some the 14' billboard tarps on a 2 1 stack. They worked good about 2 years life then they crack bad. Harder to handle in cold weather. Their price has more than doubled so I Will probably get Super tarp again. Put conduit thru the sleeve and ropes under the bales.

    Stacked on tires

I have used one of the super tarps (https://www.supertarp.com/) with good results and some bill board tarps. First billboard tarps I got were better than the second order, lot thicker and better condition. I just run rope under the bale and tie to pipe in the sleeve. So far doing it that way...

    Wow what a rope.

    Hay tarps

Used one of the Super Tarp brands with good luck. Has a pipe sleeve on it and put rope under the bales. Hay kept good just a little where the tarp touches on the bottom. Used billboards a lot too.

Moving hay our of field, accross ditch?

Culverts clog up with debris too much and end up washing out into the field. Had one in one crossing and it would wash out.

Moving hay our of field, accross ditch?

It is 10 ton for 1800 so I guess it is priced fairly.

Moving hay our of field, accross ditch?

What is the wagon in the pic worth with 4 new tires on it?

Moving hay our of field, accross ditch?

Probably too expensive and would have to do 2 places. For my small operation not justifiable.

Moving hay our of field, accross ditch?

6-8 feet across the bottom about 4 feet deep. Got pretty long slopes into them, but doubt they can be made any longer.

Moving hay our of field, accross ditch?

I need to speed up moving hay out of about 20 acres that I have to cross a ditch/waterway. We have it sloped about as much as possible but a gooseneck trailer drags bad. What do you think would work better, a 4 wheel type farm wagon or a cheap trailer with a straight deck thats sits higher...

    Charge for hauling hay???

Seeing lots of hay here for all prices ranges, people trying to get rid of it. I got the feeling that this year will be a short year on hay, was dry for this time of the year and grass is behind.

    Charge for hauling hay???

That guy kept bugging me about hay and when it came time he never responded again. Forgot about even selling it and then someone local asked about it. Like I said it wasn't the best and upfront about it. I told this local guy to come get 5 rolls, what he said he could haul and if they ate it...

    Fertilizer application before rain?

I only use urea in the spring. Tempted to apply yesterday but still had some wet spots. Another concern was the prediction of 1-3 inches of rain today. I always assumed a light rain at the start would get it in the soil. How much loss would be possible with a large rainfall?

    Charge for hauling hay???

Still going to have some left, this is stored outside, no hay barns. Will keep some that is under tarp. This is probably my worst hay, so priced accordingly.
