    Why you came here?

I stumbled upon the site while doing research in college for my an Animal Science class. I don't post a whole lot, I'm more of a lurker since a lot of topics have already been covered by the time I see them.

Any recommendations on what camera to buy?

My favorites have been Canon cameras, in both DSLR and digital cameras. I've really liked both cameras I've had from them. I've never mad much luck with the Nikon Coolpix digital cameras. The pictures have always seemed to look grainy and I've had issues with batteries with Nikons.

He's the only one we have. He's 4 (I think) and is "multi-purpose". He's a companion to my sister's horse, guardian for the cows, and breaks calves. He's a big guy too, only about a hand and a half shorter than my sister's horse. He's kind of a big puppy, if he sees you in the pasture he runs...

    Book reccomendation

"The Work Of Wolves" by Kent Meyers is one of my favorites. It was an assignment in my Literature of the American West class in college, and I loved it. Modern Western set in the Badlands of South Dakota.

Had an interesting couple of days - pics

The calf is in another pasture with a different group, otherwise that would have been a good starting point. It took 4 hours to get the bull out. The way he's looking, if he doesn't show any signs of pneumonia in the next day or so he'll get to go back out with the girls. It's amazing how...

Had an interesting couple of days - pics

We were vaccinating cows and a gate was accidentally left open to the grove behind the shed. A few cows and the bull decided to take that route. We went back there to get them out back to the pasture, and all was going fine. The cows were headed out and the bull was following. All of a...

    Missouri River Flooding Pictures

It's a bit crazy down there. The nuclear power plant near Ft. Calhoun, NE is completely surrounded by water. The water table is so high that 8 miles inland from the river there is water rising up from the ground. My parents, who live about 10 miles from the river (luckily in hill country, not...

    It's gettin real bad here

I really wish we could send the rain your way. Our crop ground is puddling up again and there won't be any time for a second re-plant, and the Missouri is completely flooding it's banks. Lots of friends and family are losing their homes and crop ground. They say this is our 500 year flood...
