They can tear things up when they have a run away away. I remember one bunch kept having a run away on a regular basis . I finally killed a coyote early one morning that would stop and howl every little bit. He was traveling the two track ahead of and I kept hearing him until I caught up with him.
I've considered unrolling and placing a hot wire down the middle so they couldn't lay in the middle of it or only have access half of it or less at a time depending on how you set it up.
We haven't had enough rain at one time to make a difference since November. I never did plant any wheat between moving and my wife getting sick I missed a couple of opportunities but if I had I would have just thrown my money away and watch everything blow.
It's at least as dry if not dryer, the fuel load is much less because it has been dry for basically the last year especially late last summer. Lack of fuel is the biggest reason the fire wasn't worse then it was last Friday.
Thanks, they got plenty of man power in and got it under control. Grandson got the cedars burnt he was wanting to burn, just not how he wanted to do it.
It started out beautifully this morning, 50 mph winds, 5% humidity and a wild fire this afternoon. Grandson got his goats and dogs out safely, including the dog he hadn't been able to touch for three years.
Always used the cheap ones from Atwoods, never had any real problems with them. Every couple years they go in the trash and get replaced, I usually keep at least one new sprayer on hand,
