    If you could start over

knowing what I know now, I would of started younger when the hay bales were lighter. Always had horses, raised goats and dogs.... But I get so much joy now being around my few Dexters.

The only negetive I have heard was that too much barley was bad for their foot wall.

O.K., I will take this 'special time' advice to heart and be a lot more careful around him. Thank you for being so open about this. You folks are great.

    Friendly bull

D.R. Cattle you said: Ever wonder if bulls get a wiff of a woman there's a possibility that similar smells may be detected as in a cycling brood? I asked that same question to a Simmi breeder this year, when I got my bull. He said "no." I have also been told by horse breeders this is danger...

    Friendly bull

I have been touchy feely with my eight month old Dexter bull since I got him at four months old. I don't feed him by hand, grain and treats are from bucket. I can touch him anywhere and pick up his front feet (still working on the back). But if I have the bucket in my hand, I'd better be...

    Unusual Practises?

When I raised pygmy goats and was showing them, I'd bring them in the home and bathe them in the bathtub. Put them in dog crates on blankets overnight to dry in the living room. They loved being inside. Friends thought I was nuts. Now they are asking me when I'm letting my bull come inside...

I have a bull calf that likes to eat ice out of my hands.

Over the years they have ruined ... oops, I mean changed, food ingredients to make us healthier and live longer. I miss the old style Twinkies

I have a bull calf that likes to eat ice out of my hands.

Chuck said: Thanks for posting this-I hadn't thought of that old girl in a long time. I too have had my memory tweaked many times while reading the posts here. Not with cattle, cause that's newer, but with experiances in general. The little things that was just another day then, and remembering...

Blocks, Cubes, Cakes, Lick Tubs, Loose mineral?

I fed the Purina loose minerals with fly control this summer. Kept it in a shelter. Seemed to worked real well. I also fly sprayed him every few days. I pick up around his area by the shelter and barn every morning.

    Florida Cattle

I've wondered, when the president sends all the emergency dollars to help rebuild, does that include replacing herds and flocks? What about hay? They'd have to go to another state? I worry about that aspect of floods and such.
