The 42 Brangus Bulls on Test #1 are gaining 3.66 pounds per day through 86 days on test while the six younger Brangus Bulls on Test #2 have a gain of 3.87 pounds per day through 56 days on test. Bulls pretty much grazed what was left of Bermuda grass fields for this testing period, but were turned to Rye/Ryegrass pastures November 1. Bulls usually take a week or two to get accustomed to the rye pastures and then gains take off again. Bulls are looking super with no health problems to speak of.

Since bulls at Spitzer Ranch are on a forage-based testing program supplemented with a by-product ration; these bulls are tested for a longer time period and will be on test for 168 days. Currently bulls are only half way through the program and already average 918 pounds at an average age of 304 days (Test #1) and 849 pounds at an average age of 233 days (Test #2). These bulls will easily be those strapping 1150 to 1300 pound yearlings everyone would like to produce. It's in the GENES! Spitzer Ranch Brangus bulls are bred to perform and they are extremely proud of providing the commercial cattle industry with Profitable Genetics from Performance Cattlemen.

The next set of weights will be obtained November 11 and the Winter Newsletter will be in the mail by the end of November. If you want to have a private viewing of the best set of yearling bulls in the Southeast give them a call. You will see growth, power and muscling in a set of bulls bred to sire those super Brangus crossbred females that are the envy of all and the kind of steers that will sure turn to dollars in the feedlot. Twenty five years of stacked pedigrees and disciplined genetic selection for those traits proven to optimize production and maximize profit have created a set of Brangus bulls unique to the industry.
