NATIONAL JUNIOR ANGUS SHOW HELD IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA

Flooding in many parts of the Midwest, didn't keep National Junior Angus Association (NJAA) members from showing a record-breaking number of entries at the 2007 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), July 1-7 in Tulsa, Okla. Youth led 1,241 entries during the week-long event, achieving the show's theme, �The American Dream.� Hosted by the Oklahoma and Arkansas Angus Associations, the NJAS is the world's largest single-breed beef cattle show.

Randy Perry, Prather, Calif., evaluated the 67 steers. Brad McCurry, Mount Hope, Kansas, judged the 17 bred-and-owned cow-calf pairs, 40 owned cow-calf pairs, 100 bred-and-owned bulls, and 280 bred-and-owned females. Joel Cowley, Houston, Texas, made the final rankings on the 702 owned females. In addition, 35 steers competed on the rail in the annual carcass steer contest.

Vince Untied, Granville, Ohio, led SCC Echo Dell Nellie 6005 to grand champion owned female honors. The March 2006 daughter of PVF New Horizon 001 first topped the junior division 2.

Andrew Foster, Niles, Mich., showed the reserve grand champion owned female, ENT SCC Queen O Diamonds 670. The June 2006 daughter of PVF New Horizon 001 earlier won early intermediate champion.

Kade Patton, Frankfort, Ind., claimed grand champion bred-and-owned female honors with Patton Travett 558. The September 2005 daughter of QLC LaGrand Forum first won senior champion.

Callie Smith, Lebanon, Tenn., led CQS Georgina 5516 to the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female position. The September 2005 daughter of A A R Rainmaker 1601 first won reserve senior champion.

Andy Headley, Alma, Ill., captured the grand champion bred-and-owned bull banner. D A Rosewood Horizon 612 is an October 2006 son of PVF New Horizon 001 and first won calf champion.

Andrew Rogen, Brandon, S.D., won reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull with Plainview Big Rig G107. The February 2006 son of LaGrand Sun Dance 4211 first topped the junior division.

Callie Smith also showed the grand champion owned cow-calf pair. Champion Hill Lady 4618 is a May 2005 daughter of SAV 8180 Traveler 004. A March 2007 daughter of SAV Prairie Knight 5666 completes the duo that first won champion two-year-old pair.

Wesley Biehl, Whitestown, Ind., won reserve grand champion owned cow-calf pair. Craft Cheyenne 1397-581 is a March 2005 daughter of Champion Hill Tecumseh 2382. A February 2007 son of K F Precision 361 completes the pair that first won reserve champion in the two-year-old division.

Alexis O'Boyle, Newport, Pa., led the grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair. Ajob Mayflowers Black Pearl is a February 2005 daughter of SAV 8180 Traveler 004 and has a February 2007 bull calf sired by Bon View New Design 878 at side. The duo first won champion two-year-old pair.

Kassandra Pfeiffer, Orlando, Okla., showed the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair that first won reserve two-year-old. PAF E130 Lut 503 is a March 2005 daughter of Exar Lutton 1831. A May 2007 son of Gardens Prime Star completes the winning pair.

Leo Kruse, Rudd, Iowa, led the grand champion steer. HCA Steer 605 is a March 2006 son of Jsar Mr Doctor 035ZFM.

Brittany Full, Mount Airy, Md., won reserve grand champion steer with Bolsens Double Wide. He is a March 2006 son of Bolsens Taurus Kruger 558.

Glen Mommsen, DeWitt, Iowa, entered the grand champion carcass steer. ONeills Expedition 196 is a March 2006 son of ONeills Expedition.

Cullen Walser, Minnesota Lake, Minn., entered the reserve grand champion carcass steer, GCR Foreman's Lady 331. He's a March 2006 son of TC Foreman 016. Complete results from the carcass contest will be included in a separate press release.
