The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) recently awarded Meyer Natural Angus (MNA) the Industry Service Award at the 2007 National RAAA Convention held in Dodge City, Kan., September 26 – 29, at the historic Dodge House Hotel and Convention Center. Greg Comstock, RAAA Marketing Programs Coordinator, presented the award to his long time friends and industry counterparts. The MNA team, in particular Blake Angell and Jim Norwood, has promoted Red Angus influenced cattle both physically and fiscally. Their efforts represent an investment in the Red Angus breed and its future in the industry.

Meyer Natural Angus provides a superior product to their customers with strict adherence to raising quality cattle on an all-vegetarian diet without the use of artificial growth hormones or antibiotics. Their product goes through a stringent system of checks and balances designed to assure an unrivaled quality product. Meyer Natural Angus is the only beef company in the country to receive the distinction of Certified Humane by Humane Farm Animal Care, an independent nonprofit organization. As stated on their website, “Our strategy is simple. Our purpose is straightforward, to produce and deliver the number 1 tasting, superior quality natural protein products on the market for both domestic and international use.”

The RAAA's Industry Service Award recognizes that the growth of Red Angus depends on relationships. It is presented annually to an individual or organization that goes above and beyond to advance the Red Angus position within the beef industry. MNA adds value to Red Angus genetics by purchasing our customer's cattle. They sponsor events throughout the year that develop Red Angus leadership and market the breed to the industry. MNA promotes the brand equity represented in the Red Angus “Yellow” tag program. The RAAA Feeder Calf Certified Program (FCCP) identifies Angus genetics through source and age verification. In 2006, MNA paid tag reimbursements to producers who utilized the program and sold them their calves. This amount was equal to 10% of the total producer investment in the FCCP. The MNA team continues to service Red Angus's commercial marketing efforts and increase the market share available to the breed.

For all that the MNA team has done and continues to do, while increasing the symbiotic relationship with Red Angus, the RAAA is proud to present Meyer Natural Angus the Industry Service Award for 2007.
