SPECIAL LIMOUSIN FEEDER-CALF SALES CONCLUDE

The North American Limousin Foundation (NALF) coordinated special Limousin-influenced feeder-calf sales at eight auction markets in Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota this fall. The sales provided more than 60 commercial Limousin producers with opportunities to market more than 5,200 total head of Limousin-influenced feeder calves at premiums.

Nice sets of muscular, feed-efficient, Limousin-influenced calves showed up at auction markets across the country, and cow-calf producers using Limousin genetics were pleased with the prices, said Bo Sexson, co-director of member and commercial relations for NALF.

By coordinating with auction markets, NALF helps producers learn what the market values and how to use that information. Working with auction markets is part of the Limousin breed's commitment to the commercial cow-calf sector. In addition, NALF provides feeder-calf, bull and female listing services via the Limousin Exchange online marketplace at www.nalf.org on the Web.

For information about scheduling, promoting and conducting a Limousin-influenced sale at your local auction market, contact Sexson in the NALF office, (303) 220-1693.

The North American Limousin Foundation (www.nalf.org), headquartered in Centennial, Colo., provides programs and services including genetic evaluation of 5,000 active sires to more than 4,000 members and their commercial customers. The Limousin breed and its Lim-Flex hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds.
