These 49 bull calves have been weaned and on-test for 112 days as of November 10 and had an average actual weight of 1025 pounds at 326 days of age (10.7 months). Bulls began the Spitzer Ranch testing program immediately as they came off their mammas and data reported are total measurements from birth onward. A program that is certainly the most accurate reflection of reality! This system accounts for lifetime performance with no missing days and no chance to manipulated data just to have exaggerated weight gains on performance test.

Performance arithmetic of interest for all 49 bulls includes average: Birth Weight of 85 pounds; Weaning Weight of 636 pounds (No creep feed and in the driest year ever in the SE.); ADG since weaning of 3.44 pounds and WDA of 3.15 Pounds. The most accurate genetic predictors available to the industry are Expected Progeny Differences and these averages are: BW EPD of 1.3; WW EPD of 33.7; YW EPD of 52.1; Milk EPD of 12.8 and TM EPD of 29.7. The folks at Spitzer Ranch don't just promise “curve bender” bulls, they deliver. These bulls BW EPDs average almost a full pound less than breed average while WW EPDs average 10.3 pounds more than breed average with YW EPDs averaging 13.5 pounds greater than breed average. CURVE BENDERS - less birth weight and more growth!

At 112 days the two ADG standouts are SR Wrangler Warrior T102 (AI Sire - Aces TF Wrangler 145/8); EPDs: BW 1.1; WW 33.5; YW 52.7; MK 8.2; TM 25.0 with ADG of 4.13 pounds (RATIO 120) and SR Cadence Warrior T155 (AI Sire - Cadence of Brinks 535D3); EPDs: BW 1.0; WW 35.8; YW 55.6; MK 16.9; TM 34.8 with ADG of 4.11 pounds (Ratio 119). Both are “curve bender” examples with low actual birth weights and low BW EPDs and high growth potential. The current WDA performance king is a cooperator bull from Wooten Farms, Wooten Farms Mac Daddy T707 (AI Sire - Burtin's Transformer 803G3); EPDs: BW 2.2; WW 37.3; YW 58.0; MK 9.4; TM 28.1 with an almost unheard of WDA of 3.84 pounds. Bull T707 will not be a calving ease bull, but will beat all comers in extremely powerful growth performance.

Final (Off Test) weights will be taken January 5, 2008 and Ultrasound Scans for Rib Eye Area (REA), Percent Intramuscular Fat (%IMF) or Marbling and outside Fat Cover (FAT) will be collected at about the same time. Bulls will also receive a complete round of vaccinations, be dewormed and undergo a Complete Breeding Soundness Evaluation (BSE). Final reports with complete weights and measures complete EPDs and a summary of their mom's lifetime performance will be available with the catalog mailed about the first of February. No registered breeder of any breed provides more information on their bulls, makes buying bulls easier or provides any better customer support and service after the sale than the folks associated with the Spitzer family.
