(SPRING HILL, Tenn.) - Jennifer Dutton has been welcomed as the newest marketing specialist for the University of Tennessee and the Center for Profitable Agriculture (CPA). The CPA is a partnership educational outreach program between UT Extension and the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation and is the state's flagship program for value-added agriculture.

As the newest member of the Center's staff, Dutton will be involved with various value-added farm projects and will provide leadership to value-added meat and livestock initiatives. She recently completed her Master's degree at Oklahoma State University (OSU) in Agricultural Economics. While at OSU she focused her research on the value that consumers place on brands and product attributes for fresh beef products at the retail level.

The CPA conducts feasibility and marketing analysis for value-added agriculture ideas and develops educational programs for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs throughout the state. It is located on the grounds of the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station's Middle Tennessee Research and Education Center in Spring Hill.

“Jennifer's recent research experience at Oklahoma State will help enhance our Center's evaluation of value-added marketing opportunities for meat and livestock enterprises in Tennessee” said Rob Holland, UT Extension Specialist at the Center. “We are pleased to have Jennifer join our team and we look forward to her involvement with value-added projects across the state,” Holland added.

Dutton was born in Kingman, Kansas, and grew up on a family farm in Limon, Colorado, where she was active in 4-H activities and athletics. She continued her education at Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison, where she earned B.S. degrees in business administration and economics while playing basketball for two years. While working on her Master's degree in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jennifer was also active within the local community, volunteering as a girls' basketball coach at Stillwater High School.
