Established to meet the increasing demand for Santa Gertrudis Influence commercial replacement females, �The Gathering� is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2009 beginning at 12:00 noon. �The Gathering� will be held at the Caldwell Livestock Commission Co., 270 CR 107, Caldwell, Texas.
Sponsor for the event is Santa Gertrudis Breeders International. Sale committee chairman Allen Grainger notes that the sale grew out of the need from commercial cow-calf producers for a source of quality, screened replacement females in volume numbers. Pairs along with bred and open heifers will be offered and will include recorded Star 5 females as well as other Santa Gertrudis influence females.
Sale Chairman Jim Banner indicates that he expects over 400 head to be consigned to this inaugural event with those consignments coming from some of the top breeders in Texas and surrounding states. All cattle will be screened for quality and soundness and will be offered primarily in lots of five and ten head.
