(May 12, 2009) LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Cattlemen Research and Education Foundation has selected the winner of its $500 AgriLabs scholarship, which was available for Nebraska youth with an interest in the beef industry. Laura Maricle, Albion, will receive the award. She is a student at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, majoring in agriculture journalism with a minor in animal science. This scholarship was funded by a $500 grant from AgriLabs, a leading animal-health sales-and-marketing organization based in St. Joseph, MO.

“We received applications from many well-qualified youth, and are so pleased to award the AgriLabs scholarship to help Laura with her educational goals,” says Jim Ramm, Atkinson, president of the Nebraska Cattlemen Research and Education Foundation. “Nebraska Cattlemen believe in the importance of making opportunities for a sound education available to those who will be tomorrow's industry leaders. That's why we truly appreciate the generosity of AgriLabs in providing funds for this scholarship.”

The Nebraska Cattlemen Research and Education Foundation was created in 1968 and has been nurturing important, long-term facets of the cattle industry, education for our future leaders and promoting needed research. The Foundation's mission is to raise and provide funds for educational and scientific activities that benefit the beef cattle producers in Nebraska, as well as to advance the overall purpose of the Nebraska Cattlemen. Since its inception the NCR&EF has awarded more than $190,000 to students pursuing college educations.
