Steve McDonald was elected President of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association at its 66th annual meeting held February 14th in Montgomery. Other officers elected to serve with McDonald are: Mike Dee of Aliceville, President-Elect; Leo Hollinger of Camden, Vice President, and Ned Ellis of Ft. Deposit Treasurer. Dr. Billy Powell of Montgomery serves as Executive Vice President of the association.
McDonald grew up in Lineville in Clay County. Following graduation from Bibb Graves High School, he went to work for Kimberly-Clarke Corporation. In l985, he went into the poultry business and started raising a small herd of cattle. He retired from Kimberly-Clarke in 1995 and now farms full-time.
Steve has been a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association since 1986. He served four terms as Clay County Cattlemen's chapter president, was a state regional vice president, and this past year served as President-Elect.
McDonald is very active in his community as a member of the Clay County Career Tech Board and the Clay County Extension Advisory Board. He is also president of the Clay County Poultry and Egg Association. Steve and wife Denise have two sons; Daniel and Casey. The McDonalds are active members of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
