David and Susan Vaughan, owners of Salcoa Valley Brangus Farms, announced today the complete dispersal of their Brangus herd. “Due to health considerations, we have come to the decision to disperse our Brangus cow herd in its entirety, October 11 and 12 here at the farm,” says David. “Since 1984 we have been proud to own these Brangus cows. We have built and improved the foundation we compiled from the legendary Willow Springs Dispersal in 1986. The decision to disperse was a difficult one but necessary. We are confident the new owners will be as pleased and proud of these cows as we have been and hope the new owners will benefit from their purchases, much as we did in 1986.”

The two day sale will consist of 987 total head selling as 840 lots. The sale will include 177 spring pairs, and bred cows, 152 fall bred cows and pairs, and 163 yearling and bred heifers, 105 pregnant recipients and pairs, 50 weaned spring ET calves, eight herd sires, 106 coming two year old bulls, and 85 yearling bulls. Also selling will be the semen and embryo inventory. The farm equipment, including farm trucks and tractors, panels and other equipment will be sold on Saturday, October 12 following the cattle sale.

Salacoa Valley Farms has consistently achieved a balance between pasture and show ring that is rarely evident in the seedstock industry. They have produced champions in the pasture and in the show ring. They have sold bulls to commercial producers in volume and herd sires to fellow registered breeders. They have identified the superior females within their fences and multiplied them. They have made strategic purchases throughout their history to remain on top of their game. Recognized by the International Brangus Breeders Asscoation as the Breeders of the year in 2006, Mr. Vauhgn has served two terms on the IBBA Board and in 2008 completed a term as president. In addition, Salacoa Valley Farms have been long time members of the Southeastern Brangus Breeders Association and David is also a past president of that organization.
