Lost one

Post by Caustic Burno » Mon Jun 22, 2020 8:02 pm

Had to dispatch a four day old heifer it was fine couple days ago. It could barely walk, having trouble with the left front leg and breathing. I think it got stepped on.
Something went wrong.
If you ain’t got em you can’t loose them.

That sucks.
Do you have any problems with selenium deficiency in your part of the country?
Never fear them, but ALWAYS respect them.

No, first I lost in a long time.
It’s part of the game I hate.

Sounds like it got trampled. I have a PVC cast on one that I believe got stepped on last week. Leg was broke just above the hoof. We'll see if it works. Calf is about 250 lbs so may not heal like a newborn does.

No she blew her udder it detached.
She is going to the barn next month.
Hate that I lost her she is a Certified Golden F-1 and was 2 place commercial heifer at the county fair 2011.

All part of the game.
