Cool looking spider
Any one know what kind of spider this is? Never seen anything like it. Was up on a hill overlooking the pasture and it crawled up on the bucket on front of the 4 wheeler.

Re: Cool looking spider
looks vaguely related to a jumping spider... but probably isn't... I have a hate-on for wolf spiders and the like, but the jumping spiders we have around here are pretty neat

No such thing as a cool spider.

I have a hard time telling them apart if they aren;t a splotch on the sole of my shoe.

We have them here too.. don't like them one bit
This is one of the several jumping spiders we have here... never find them indoors, which is one of the good things about them

Re: Cool looking spider
The top one looks like one of several types of "garden" spiders, commonly found in/around vegetation like grasses etc. It is certainly not an orb weaver type. Like the color! That bottom one, clearly a jumping type, not sure which kind though. I'd need to dig out my spider book to see if it is in there.

Here's another jumping spider on a cow, both are members of Salticidae... Nice close-up shot
Moments later it jumped and caught a fly
